Damn just found out the site is closing when I try to login today,  getting the 502 error so come here to see what's going on

I was still using freebitco for the last 2 months and have never received any message about them closing

You didn't get the message, or you just weren't paying attention. The closure was announced even earlier, there was a notice on the website. almost every day it is discussed here

Yap. Even when the service was online, no one had been able to withdraw funds from there for a long time.

Yeah I am not paying too much attention to it other than rolling for fun occasionally tbh, coz I am always logged in in the site...  and I only come to this thread if it stops working

They became a scam a long time ago. I kept talking about it; it was very obvious that the site had become someone else's the moment the creator of this thread stopped posting, and four months later the guy representing the site also stopped posting, and new accounts started appearing saying they were site representatives and that everything was fine. Scams of this type are very obvious, but the greed of many people didn't allow them to see it early and they continued using the site even seeing that withdrawals were taking forever.

Freebitco.in did not create its own utility token but collaborated with the existing FUN project and partnered with them.
Besides that, they were doing fine for few years after the partnership and only started having issues from last 2 years.
May be, it could be a well planned strategy to exit scam but if it's true then they chose a long way to scam the users.
They could have done it better and in short and nobody could have done anything about it. Why take such a long time to exit scam?

When you do it in a very short time. People will make a lot of noise. The law enforcement authorities will notice, and legal action will follow. Carrying out the exit scam in a slow but sure way guarantees that they can leave scot-free.

Maybe that's how they planned it but that token was never necessary in the first place.

I wish to have so much positive thinking in life as you. But I don't believe. I was ready to see such view like we see today and I doubt that they will comeback. I just don't know what was the point to keep website open with promises to pay out, rather than just making silent exit scam.

It wouldn't made difference if you would notice that message about closure. They weren't paying money maybe since last summer, so, you had no chance to withdraw anyway

I forget when the token sale timeline was, it was after the golden tickets were a thing I think.  Promotionally it was a success so presumably that increased the site size before its current demise.

Sorry about the delay in payments the last few days, we had a few users making large withdrawals which drained our hot wallets and created a backlog in sending payments out. We have a better hot-wallet refill policy in place now which should hopefully minimize such issues in the future.

A few points to clarify the re-branding:

• The re-branding and addition of new coins will not happen suddenly, it will be done over a period of a few months and we shall send 3 emails over this time so that pretty much all of our users are aware before the name change.
• We have the freebitco.in name registered until 2025 so even after the name change, all freebitco.in links will work as usual (no need to change banner or referral links etc.) and everyone visiting freebitco.in will be seamlessly directed to the new website with a message informing them of the re-brand.
• All coins will have all of the features that bitcoin has but I am yet undecided about the lottery (maybe it will be a combined one with the prize paid out in the currency of the users choice)
• Users will be able to claim only 1 coin every hour to begin with but hopefully I can increase the limits eventually.

The re-brand is part of a process to make freebitco.in more than just a faucet. My plan is to implement a no-KYC shapeshift.io style exchange after the rebrand to enable users to exchange between coins instantly. I feel like we have outgrown the freebitco.in name and the rebrand will allow us to do a lot more stuff without people associating the website with being just a faucet which somewhat restricts our growth now.

Well the 2025 part was correct at least, not sure about the rest of the plans stated.  Not stating you have sold a site is in of itself deceptive practice, obviously things would change.   Everyone who knew as much and refused to say any information at all is complicit in what occurs there after, presumably they were taken care of well enough to ensure a silent sale occured.

The day the domain was blocked in my country with default DNSs - 6 months ago maybe more or less - was the day I understood it was time to stop using it.
Fortunately the withdraw went through with no issues almost instantly.
I kept using it to reach 100k RPs from 94k to convert them in satoshis but I suppose I won't be able to reach it

Sorry for the loss mate. Let’s just hope that they will comply to the promise that they made before they shutdown the website. Although it’s too good to be true considering they remain the website running while withdrawal was disabled show their intent is to milk user as much as possible.

There’s an investigation section in the forum which you can share confidential information about the company and person involved behind them.

1000€ is so huge loss. I hope you will recover it even on other way.

I am guessing it would take someone from Curaçao to reach authorities in the island and check out whether those are the actual headquarters of Freebitcoin or not.

This could be one of the several cases in which companies use a random property in certain jurisdictions or rented some property, in order to comply with regulators, but ultimately not keeping any of their staff in that property.

Basically, it would be a shell address for them and raiding the place would not get any meaningful information on who these people are. In the worst case scenario, Curaçao authorities have also been fooled by those behind this casino.

Makes sense but don't you think that the noise was there as soon as the site started with the issues.
Yeah, I mean FUN token implementation was started long ago but the issues really started few years after the implementation.
Since wetsuit absconded the site started showing up with issues and we all did discuss those issues here on the forum.
So either way, the noise started happening as and when the issues started but then nobody was actually able to do anything about it.
One good thing was that it raised our eyebrows and made us aware and so we were to pull out our funds at the right time.

They forgot to disable this website in the first place, which is a clear sign of fraud.
I don't think they'll refund anything. The following signs point to this:
1. Lack of support and communication on their part. Support has been cut off via Twitter and other means of communication.
2. Repeatedly changing their support accounts on this forum and spewing nonsense.
3. Emptying wallets. Users have repeatedly reported withdrawing funds to Binance.
4. Accumulating large amounts of payment debt and ignoring website issues.
5. Selling the website and incompetent project management.
They won't give us anything; the likelihood of a refund is 0%.
