Kleros is an open source project with the goal of creating a decentralized organization to adjudicate disputes. The social goal is to bring transparent, affordable, and fast arbitration to a large number of disputes. As we sometimes say, as cryptocurrencies are bringing banking to the unbanked, Kleros will bring justice to the unjusticed.

A recent article published by Nasdaq with our CEO Federico Ast discussing Kleros and it's potentially game changing use case.

A majority of the world’s economic activity now operates completely online. The Internet has surpassed regular jurisdictional avenues of governance and commerce channels. What’s more, the markets that were once regulated by bureaucratic, old-world systems are becoming increasingly more complex.

All of this digital activity is driving the need for new common law solutions. The infrastructure that exists today is not prepared to efficiently handle the billions of transactions and international trades that the new age of commerce has ushered in.

At Kleros we are doing exciting work to apply cryptoeconomic reasoning and game theory to solve practical problems which will positively impact society as a whole.

To give our community more insight into the kinds of challenges we are facing, we have decided to share a rough roadmap of our research projects and objectives for the mid to long-term.

The theory behind Kleros is already pretty well developed in the case where jurors have to decide between two options. We have a prototype that is built based on these ideas.

In a previous post, we explained the reasons why we have chosen an Interactive Coin Offering (IICO) to do Kleros’ token sale.
Contrary to traditional capped and uncapped sales, IICOs give buyers certainty of valuation and participation. We think this is the fairest way to conduct our token sale and have implemented the smart contract to allow any other ICO to use this method also.
