IOS. without jail break..

Without jailbreaking?! Why would you not jailbreak?

You can't jailbreak (yet) the new ios 7.  Some people like myself upgraded because of the features and are patiently waiting for a new jailbreak.

Also,  did you know apple apps run faster and smoother than android apps?  Reason is they run the code native to the OS.  Android apps are all running in a small emulator (dalvik) and this causes overhead.  Reason they run "In emulated" mode is there are so many different android hardware variations.  Google has come up with a way to fix this issue and is now releasing "ART" in the newest 4.4 kitkat.  It will take time for developers to make their apps utilize ART, but eventually android apps will run code native.  Big speed gains will be coming for android.

This article explains ART in more detail:

Incorrect.

Some average people don't. Some average people do.

Some extraordinary people don't. Some extraordinary people do.

But by and large, most people don't jailbreak their phones.

First, research papers these days are thin on scientific rigor.

Second, you can extrapolate that only a certain portion of the population has smartphones.

Only a small portion of those have the technical aptitude to jaibreak their phones.

An even smaller portion of them have any reason to jailbreak.

An even smaller portion of them decide to actually jailbreak.

Furthermore jailbreak no longer has the benefits it once did.

I'd put it no more than 5%

imo the average user doesn't jailbreak or root their phone.. this is just an anecdotal opinion though. most people don't really know what jailbreak is, nor do they care for it. i see a lot of iphone users who own it just because it's "an iphone." they don't even use their phone for much of anything besides calling their friends and family... in which case it's become a vanity phone.

Should have been: Android or iPhone?
Since iOS isn't on any other smartphone.
