Guys,

I have replaced the dll with pure python code and cleaned up the kernel a little bit, hope it helps with Cayman/Turks/etc performance. Now you do not need that pesky mingw to run it, and can use 64-bit Python (still it has to be 2.x, not Python3).

Hopefully I will make py2exe build too when/if I manage to recover my broken Windows VM. For now, you can get the code at https://github.com/reorder/poclbm-skc

I dont know what the coin is worth, but just to help people better visualize a couple of factors i prepared some graphs  Grin

This shows the difficulty throughout the coins life. The last 2 jumps should correspond to the release of gpu miner. Everyone should be able to see the trend here.

And this shows the potential earnings during 24h using 1MH/s miner. If you think youre getting very litte coins using your CPU think whats going to happen when more people start GPU mining.

It will keep increasing because more people will mine the coin. I didnt add log graphs of the difficulty, but it shows a steady growth. I wouldnt be surprised if we have difficulty around 200-300 by the end of january.

hi guys.. perhapes my last message got lost in the gpu instructions but i would love 2 know if anyone (accept for madjihad) has an interest in an easy to check stats/updates app cause the poll http://skeincoin.wordpress.com/ had 7 votes and i got 1 suggestion from madjihad - an android wallet for Skein.. which would be awesome but would require lots of time and do we really trust the random number generator? :p

for suggestions pls pm me or post something up here.. would appreciate that
I have one more suggestions, but for the site:) Can you add difficulty/profit per MH/s charts (like Calhil did, but dynamic version based on blockchain) and hardware comparison table (again, provided by Calhil) or wiki page for it to your site? I can even help you with some stuff. The only thing that running skein daemon requires VPS or fully controlled backend, which probably not provided by wordpress hosting Sad

Guys, I would appreciate it if someone with a 5xxx and 6xxx radeon could test my modified kernel and tell how did his hps change. That would help to understand if the optimal code is different for VLIW and GCN architectures and implement it accordingly.

Cool.. it would be awesome to see the difficulty/profit per mh or gpu indeed.. dont know if wordpress is the best website (not a wordpress genie).. but with some javascript we might be able to do something like that.. lets start with the an easy version of the hardware comparison for now (a poll where everyone can fill out his/her gpu with hashrate good idea?) perhapes tomorrow in the afternoon i can fix something for the hashrate.. will let u know..

I have a 5870, noticed about 5-10 percent increase. Closer to 5 percent.  Usually get ~110 tops, now 110-120 mhash.  Haven't ran it long enough to get the full average speed running on a pool.

If you need any specific info let me know.

It tested your new code with a HD 5850 over night:

old: 91Mh/s (estimate on share ratio) @ 67°C
new:88 Mh/s(estimate on share ratio) @ 63°C

core running at 900 Mhz, memory at 400 Mhz

So it seems to give comparable hashrates, but the work load of my gpu seems to be less. I will repeat this with a different memory clock speed hopefully today ( I want to install the temp sensing module before doing so)

P.s.: nice work!

I have replaced remaining arrays in skein part of the kernel with variables now.

I have also added windows binary build in https://github.com/reorder/poclbm-skc/tree/master/py2exe since github does not allow to post binaries outside of code tree anymore. Now Windows users do not need python etc to run it Smiley
