It depends, because there are so many good altcoins with promising potential, and there are too shitcoins as well. So the good altcoins like ETH, Ripple, and few other coins are expected to go up again after some amount of time. You dont need to panic about them because their prices are known by volatility.

If you are buying without thorough studying the altcoin you buy then its should be riskier but if you  studying the altcoinsvyou are buying I don't think it is riskier.

Why should be crying? We realize that the price of the altcoins is very fluctuating. They may be different from days to days. Buying the altcoins when the price is high, it means that we must sell it at the higher price. That is the simple ways to earn the profits.
