There have been many improvements and developments in the field of digital currencies in the past few years. But still a major proportion of the world is not using them. I think that in order to fully utilize the potential of the digital currencies, they need to be regulated. I guess you are reading the lines wrong, the old ones will never be gone or obsolete because we can't.
