Bitmain need to push something stronger then 180Gh units to the market, very soon or they will be left behind. Bitmain: Got anything up your sleeves? No need to worry about future 180Gh sales, they won´t sell less just because you tell us your next move,
Who cares about the X GH/s amount. It's irrelevant. Hashes per Joule? Relevant. Hashes per BTC? Very relevant. Hashes per cubic meter? Relevant for some. Hashes per second per device? Almost totally irrelevant. I think Bitmain has done well in offering a device smaller than some of the preorder unicorns. There are certainly people who bought only one or two units who wouldn't have bought a 4x performing unit at 4x the price because they didn't want to dive that deep in... doubly so when the prices are not attractive enough that a healthy profit can be completely assured. I don't know anything about Bitmain's per unit order processing and shipping overheads, but assuming that they aren't enormous I'd imagine that around $1k to $2k in value is probably a purchasing sweet spot in terms of making devices which are accessible to a large number of people without dealing with the trouble of a lot of small purchases. Keeping the per device price around that much value but driving up the hashes per joule and hashes per sec per $ would probably be a good path forward. +1 Well said, and I agree. I hadn't bought a piece of hardware since my B2 avalon almost a year ago... Then Bitmain showed up. I am thinking that the thing that kills these things will be the same reason that usb hubs killed block erupters...the psu costs. I mean the size of these things makes them extremely scalable but when they get to be .25 Bitcoin each, the PSU's will cost just as much as the units and what do you do with all the PSU's when you move onto the next latest and greatest?

I am waiting for someone to make it "easy" (no soldering, etc.) to use cheap server type power supplies. I see a few attempts here and there recently. Whoever gets it right will make some nice money I expect.

The problem is that server PSUs don't have a standard pinout like ATX ones do, and almost everyone is buying them used on eBay. You're a little at the mercy of the market as to what's available, so you'd have to make a bunch of them. I just bought a bunch of these (though not the DC version). http://elcodis.com/parts/802300/DS450DC-3.html#datasheetSo I only need to worry about one connector.

You can always re-sell as PSU, they are of use to a lot of people outside of the bitcoin community...

Yep and as long as you didn't cut any cables... You can sell them to (for example) gamers building a heavy gaming PC Or think of scrypt GPU miners
It's not like they're instantly useless

I guess that's why Bitmain decided to add the PCIE connectors to the newer boards

I guess that's why Bitmain decided to add the PCIE connectors to the newer boards Well on my first model Ants I didn't cut wires either, but I had to buy PCI-E extension cables (and cut those haha). Not a big problem, but yes, these connectors save me time and a little bit of money. And it just looks much better to just plug cables in, so yeah it's a great improvement I'd say

With Bitmain's statement to never take pre-orders and place the business risk on the customer and having managed to deliver units at this speed and price soooo much earlier than almost all other suppliers... I think they are way ahead and it's the others that have some catching up to do.

Yeah I couldn't agree more. Only looking at pure GH/s is so pointless. It's always a combination between price per GH/s and watt per GH/s.

...and don't forget one of the most important factors: actual delivery time, not worthless, empty promises

anyone tried to run 4 of them on one LEPA 1600W?
i think there is no problem of running 4 on a lepa 1600.I had 2 antminer s1 180ghash not overclocked with a usb hub and 20 usb sticks running on a Corsair ax860 takes 750watt on the wall. the ants run 335 on platinum psu and 360 on silver/bronze.

They state shipment before chinese newyear (31-01) I think there is no real information on where they are with orders, looks like they're sending miners ordered on the 19th or 20th

Are you from Russia? I ask because they have import problems so they better choose hosting option.

I've not followed closely this manufacturer, but from what I've read they ship from stock, right? You pay 1.9BTC for one 180GB/s machine and expect it to receive when? Any reasons to be worried about delays with these guys? What value do they declare? I read above that sometimes there is a problem with customs. I am currently contemplating on buying a few as this is their final batch before the Chinese new year.
Hey Cyper! Just do it.... I have 7 at home and 7 on way.... No Jups.... Ordered 3 last night. I hope this turns out well. You and me both, I ordered 2 last night too Nothing to do now but wait..... Everything will be fine. Just relax... My 7 will arrive at thursday. You are right, today I got the tracking info email. Delivery scheduled for Friday. Woohoo!
