Can a Seasonic X-850 850W 80Plus Gold suit for 2 OC Ant-S1?
Thanks!

I wouldn't do it. An OC S1 uses somewhere around 500w

I call that misleading information.
A stock AntMiner uses around 320W DC power from the PSU, so that Seasonic is perfectly suitable for the job.
I have 2 on a Corsair AX860i and they use exactly 700W from the wall, which equals around 640W from the PSU.
I also have others on a Corsair CX600M using 380W from the wall, which again equals around 320W DC power.

380W from the wall would need a 475W 80% rated PSU

The seasonic G 750 are running 2 of these without breaking a sweat!
edit: at stock clocks

It may be running them but to say they are not breaking a sweat is overstating it a little.

Has anyone underclocked these ants and measured the wattage?

No, for which reason or sense?

in a couple of months... summer will be here.. and also the power will cost more then they make soon after that.. so to extend the life and keep them kool....

I have gpus running solid for over 2 years (7970's) getting 2.5kh per watt.. and they stay kool and run longer..
I don't get the point? Here is always summer and my run at 50 degree like a charm. In a couple of month (??) they will run at 180Gh/s almost not profitable already, and you want decrease the hash rate and let them run and lost money?

Maybe i can't get the point cause i just woke up.  Huh

Dude, you are wrong. PSUs don't work the way you think they do. They take AC from the wall and then convert it to DC with losses (mainly heat). So 380W from the wall is LESS from the PSU.

Here are my results:

2x S1 @350Mhz = 685w
2x S1 @375Mhz = 735w
2x S1 @387Mhz = 755w
2x S1 @393Mhz = 765w
2x S1 @400Mhz = 775w

They are very similar figures to the ones I have using a Cooler Master 1050w @ 230v.

On newer PSU's the limit when overclocked seems to be 400W. So whilst a 450W 80PLUS would just do the job for an overclocked ant it will not last long, a 500W or better would be needed.

As and aside, I was pulling 450W at the wall on stock clocks on a very old PSU that frankly I should have put that in the bin ages ago.

If I have been help then please show your thanks         BTC: 127PRogAVZiV3fEmpJERh9KemK3a3Ffh6G         LTC: LXghFL8mZffpTFkm2nRTesuDrV5DJQP3Js

@CYPER:
Did you try to overclock your Ant miners? I also want to do that with my 08-Feb. Ant-S1 miners and noticed that some members have problems with their PSUs so I have checked it again for sure.
Thanks all!

No, they are too many, so the room is quite hot.

Stock miner =/= OC miner. My OC miner suck 440watt at the wall.

So?

Can a Seasonic X-850 850W 80Plus Gold suit for 2 OC Ant-S1?
Thanks!

Assuming an OC Ant S1 drawings 440W and you have 2 of them you would need a 1011W Gold PSU (87%)...if the PSU was only loaded 50% then it would get 90% efficiency instead of 87% efficiency.
You're doing the math wrong. PSUs are rated by their DC output. If you're measuring 440W at the wall that means you're pulling 440W * 0.87 = 383W of 12V or about 32A.

Really, you want to go by the current rating on the 12V rail especially if you're trying to use a smaller/older PSU. Some only have 80% of their power available on the 12V rail.

Thanks for correcting me...looks like I got my math wrong.

The equation goes something like this:
[PSU size] + losses = [Power at wall]

where losses = [PSU size] - ( [PSU size] * [PSU rating] )

Isolating [PSU size] leaves:
[PSU size] = [Power at wall] / ( 2 - [PSU rating] )

Solving for [PSU size] gives:
[PSU size] = 380W / ( 2 - 0.80 )
[PSU size] = 317W

In the original form: 317W + 63W = 380W

Thanks again for correcting me...looks like I will need a lot less PSU's than I thought.

Now you guys got me wondering how many ants I can put on one 15A breaker.

220 would be better.. but for a 15amp 110 I would say 4 ants using approx 12-13amps

edit:   15 ants on a 220 30amp breaker!  (using 24amps)

Iam not sure, but 220 x 15=3300w so calculate from there. Think 6 or 7.

It really does depend on how good your PSU is.

15A * 110V = 1,650W

Stock clocked ant on a very good PSU pulls 350W, overclocked pulls 400W. 4 ant's is your maximum but if your house circuitry is old then personally I would only use 3 ant's because of the burnout risk from old cable.
