... 1.45BTC was a bit priey 2 weeks ago. in 2 weeks from now, its risky
...

I guess if you think $6 (USD) per GH/s is too much then I can see your point...
Yes, I think klondike_bar's point was that $6 per GH/s may be too pricey in an absolute sense; the timeframe to recover the initial investment is 'too long for comfort'. The longer the timeframe, the more risk is involved, and the less attractive the investment becomes.

Obviously this is a subjective call. Some will feel that 1.45 BTC for this device is too high; others will feel it is not. Neither camp is necessarily 'wrong', but it is important to understand that these are opinions. The fact that there is no clear concensus on this suggests that Bitmain has priced the product 'just right' for today's market. If everyone believed 1.45 BTC was too high, then Bitmain would have very few sales. If everyone thought 1.45 BTC was a bargain and started buying these things up like there was no tomorrow, then obviously Bitmain chose a price that is too low.

But here we have people with different opinions, suggesting that the price is just right. As the weeks progress, I expect future Antminer batches to be priced lower to reflect the reduced earnings potential due to increased difficulty. Clearly if the price doesn't go down in the future, sales will dry up as more people form the opinion that a 180GH/s 1.45 BTC device will not be able to mine 1.45 BTC in a 'reasonable timeframe'.

Yes. I agree. I think Klondike must have meant $6 is too much per Gh no matter what (ie. the entire market is overpriced). That's fine - it is certainly a matter of opinion involving a lot of factors. But IF Klondike were talking in relative terms, relative to the rest of the market, it's still a bargain rather than being pricey.

Does anybody know how long does it take to get an email order confirmation?  I Paid a few hrs ago.
I don't think I've ever got an order confirmation. The process both times I've ordered was:
You place the order. You get a bill (BTC). You pay the bill (BTC). You can check your account page on their site to see when it shows as paid (after a BTC  confirmation or two). That's it.

EDIT: You do get notification when shipping actually occurs.

Hello, I am getting only 140 ~ 150  GH/s  for the standard setting:

option 'freq_value'     '4d81'  #350M
option 'chip_freq'      '350'
option 'timeout'        '40'

I tried a few other setting mentioned here but does not help.
How do I trouble shoot this and get the hash rate up?
I updated the firmware, should I also update the cgminer ? I yes, how do I do this. I can't find instructions.

Are you getting 140-150GH from the pool or the miner status?

Miner status shows 140-150 GH
I am using slush pool and it shows 78951.038 Mhash/s* - which seems even lower

try pointing your device to BTCGuild or Ghash.info.  and let it hash for a day or so, then check your hashing stats.  Slush is not always accurate.  Also, check your S1, see if any of the Asic chips has a "X" where the "O's" should be.  if so, you have a defective chip.

Ive had issues using slush's pool and asics before - i imagine thats corrected by now but it might not be. I find eligius does a terrific job - 5 antminers average 990GH (all clocked in the 375-400 range)

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

6. I see "x" in the ASIC Status

For the ASIC status wise, "x" doesn't necessary means the chip is faulty or failing.  If the hashing power seems to be affected, please check your PSU and wiring and reboot and check the status a few times.  It should go back to an average 168-180 gh/s range per AntMiner.

when you are getting "x" on the ASIC chip status, please turn off the antminer and double check your PSU cables are connected well and restart.  Check the status in about 5 minutes and every 30 minutes for a few hours and see if the "x" are showing up constantly at the same chip or randomly changes or completely disappear.

Any hope of a price decrease was dashed by the recent drop in exch. rate.

Another "NO ROI" comment.

looks like the SOLD OUT signs says 1000's of orders don't care for your perspective.

I usual ignore instead of a providing futile response but I'm in a funny mood today.

Let me guess now you want me to prove to you how I intend to ROI?

No.

After shutting down and changing the pci-e connectors from PSU, I am now getting close to 180 GH/s. But still see some Xs. Previously, one chain had all 0's and the other showed lots of Xs. Now I see this:

is this a PSU problem ?

Wait until it warms up a bit, then try power off/on and see if the last of them clear up.

SOLD OUT were the Units shipped 10-13th and GB shipped 14-15th

why do you think the last limited-unit-sale was in the 1000's?

"x's" do indicate the chip is failing or having issues---to my knowledge.  power off the ant, give it a minute, then power back on....check if the Asics still have "x's".....contact either Sushi or Bitmain and ask them as to what they advise.

AND most definitely check your hashing speed with another site, slush is not the best for indicating speed, that site has had all kinds of issues lately.

it could be a PSU problem bro.  what kind of PSU are you using ?  when you see an "x" that means a cheap failed to initialize.  so it's either the PSU or the chip is just funky.    cosult w/Sushi or Bitmain

Sigh ... to get the actual Paid GH/s on any normal pool you simply:

Convert "Elasped" to seconds - call it S:

2^32 * DiffA / S / 10^9

Pool's random rates, or even the displayed random rates are pretty much meaningless since they are either unstable, incorrect or include work you've done without being paid.

Pool: https://kano.is - low 0.5% fee PPLNS 3 Days - Most reliable Solo with ONLY 0.5% fee   Bitcointalk thread: Forum
