I think until there is some regulation some countries will ban/try to ban / restrict crypto use in order to try an protect their citizens from investing without proper advice and loosing money by not following recommend practice. It is not because crptocurrencies are dangerous that some countries government restricted it use but it is because cryptocurrency is a decentralized currency which can not be controlled directly by the government. Government of most countries believed that  cryptocurrency  can be use for illegal actions,in the sense like payment  of some contract banned/illegal goods into the countries and also a room to easy money laundry, as government will unable to track the transactions and as such  will not be healthy to their economic .Due to this, Government are banning cryptocurrency as they can not monitor who holds and how much amount of cryptocurrencies an individual is holding.

Of course cryptocurrency is dangerous. Why else do you think would be banks and the government be very wary of it? But being "dangerous" can be taken in different ways. It can be a good or a bad one. Good dangerous, is that transactions and everything else that crypto provide to its users are too good and it removes the government and banks in the picture. Bad dangerous is because cryptocurrency can be used for wrong purposes. With great power comes great responsibility.
