Because the blockchain technology and cryptocurrency are quite young and new, people are still scared of it. Banning it is one of the most effective ways when you don't know anything about it.  In fact, cryptocurrency is not dangerous. It is the ignorance that makes it dangerous.

I do not really know what people or countries are afraid of crypto but I think the main cause of all that is fraud on the project or coin so many governments do not advise its citizens to join the crypto, if only there was never a scam I'm sure right now there have been so many countries that have legalized crypto
