This market is uncertain as its driven by news most so choose some good coins that have very good developer team and strong future ahead. This coins will increase as its road map achieve its goal.  Yes patience is the key we all know about but you also need some element of luck in most cases because not every coin can favour you in profit just like that. You can sometimes hold dip but dipper it goes.
