On Friday the 13th (December 13, 2013) at approximately local time 12:49pm block 44270 was forked.
As a result 9 days of mining worth about 8 million paccoins were lost. the next block 44271 is dated December 22, 2013.

I'm not sure if this was an intentional attack, or the result of an unintentional fork, that gained consensus, but it illustrates the need for checkpoints.
I'm not sure how often we should implement checkpoints but I'm thinking every 1000 blocks to avoid this kind of thing from happening again.

Please submit comments and opinions on this.

::wonders if this died a slow death:::
Anyone have the blockchain up-to-date?
Pretty sure with the massive stakes going on we are in fork heaven. How about a checkpoint from the dev?

Is this coin still alive? Has it been forked? Any plans to continue development, a new client with checkpoints added perhaps?
Stumbled on this when using ispace.co.uk pool.

There are a number of exchanges now where inclusion is based on votes, namely Cryptsy and MintPal, but these will need pressure/support of the community in order to mount a successful bid.

Amazingly PAC seems to be alive and chugging along quietly in the background.
As a community, perhaps we should buy a cruise-ship to stake a claim? Guess we could find a nice aircraft carrier for sale.
