Not so bad for a little experiment. So it seems Bitcoin only need to grow about tenfold in order to become the largest currency in the world (in terms of circulation). However, the amount of circulating currency is a poor measure, so it doesn't really matter either way.

It's unlikely to achieve this by 2020, considering how 2018, and possibly 2019 look to be sideways trading years. We would need a revolution for it to approach number 1 within that time frame.

Well, here we are at 300 replies and only a handful of people have questioned the validity of the graph.

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, the chart is bogus. It is invalid. Bitcoin has no circulating currency, so its number is 0, making it last and not 6th.

I want to award merits to all of the people that questioned the validity of the chart, but sadly they are all members of signature campaigns and I don't give merits to members of signature campaigns.

I'm not sure that bitcoin will be the number one beat dollar. If that is possible then the percentage is very small.  According to my analysis, whatever the reason the crypto currency can not replace the fiat currency position. Especially that made me hesitate because bitcoin technologies lost to other crypto currencies that use more renewable technology. It's hard for me to make sure that bitcoin prices will skyrocket like some time ago. If possible, then bitcoin takes a long time to reach the number one position. Probably more than 5 years. But, I am still not sure. Yeah, let's see tomorrow.

It's really interesting to see bitcoin becoming the 6th largest currency in about 10 years. But for me its nice to see it amongst the top, but I don't think they are measureable is terms of fiat. It's crypto for one and the market is based on speculation, maybe some day it will jump to  #1 but when it fall, it might as well go and rank #100.

But to answer the OP questions regarding it being #1 in the future, my best estimate is around 2020-2022, I think the current number of crypto enthusiast will be doubled by that time. And all other crypto will made their mark around the top 10 as well, (ETH and Ripple and BCH).

As of now bitcoin is in the 6th place of the world largest currency and I believe that maybe in the next few years bitcoin is near in the top of tha ranking because of the bitcoin technologies use and it will known in all country....And because of that there will be posibility that many will dying to try to invest or buying bitcoin and effect of that the ranking that place bitcoin now will be going to near the top....
