Investing is a high risk way of raising our money so we should be careful in investing especially in ICO, We should never invest anything that we cant completely afford to be gone like a bubble. Investing is just like gambling, we dont know if we will earn some or lose some, but if we do not try,, We will not have a chance of becoming rich.. So invest and invest those amount that you dont need.

Yeah, it is always a huge risk and every investment with the certain risk should always be considered first before even investing which is what a lot of people do not do and always get greedy or emotional. As long as you know it is not all company that would end up successful, then you will also know it is not all projects that would end up successful in the long run.

Nevertheless, this is different from investing in scams, as you would have yourself to blame if that happens, but the important thing is to not expect too much and at the same time expect too much. At the end, never get greedy, diversify to minimize the risk and always know you are investing in a solid project.

Agree, some investor dazzling with huge profit only, but in the end  they just freaked out, they lose their money for nothing.

Ive been joining ICOs and there were many things I learned. I would ratger choose now to buy in an exchange than buying during ICO. I niriced tjat most coin dropa its value after being introduced in an exchange. I don't think wether its normal but I would aay that its not wise to do so cause youre just wasting time and funds.

ICO investment is no more for babies and newbie. you need to understand the risk involved before investing. the time has passed when ICO is alway rosy and you can make 2x,5x,10x. now a lot of factors have set in which include market volatility, usage etc. many ICO are now traded at price lower than the ICO price which means before you can make profit you need to keep your token for a long time provided the token does not become dumb or become obsolete. becuase of this some ico do lock their token for some period of time in order to stabilize the market.

One approach for evaluating ICO, which I consider more or less objective, is the verification of a smart contract
It must fulfill the following conditions:

1. The token for all stages of sales should be the same.
2. Written down conditions for early investors.
3. Prescribed the conditions for the team and the bounties in separate wallets.
4. Registered the upper and lower barriers preferably for each stage of sales
5. Registered a refund in case you do not reach the software.
6. Written down the escrow of the collected funds.
7. Written down the reservation of funds and phased release according to road map.
8. Be sure to put the code on the GitHub before the start of sales, and better lay out the bounty-bag for the contract.
9. Described the conditions that are being implemented with unsold tokens with exact terms.

If some of the items are not respected, then ask the founder about the reasons

I don't believe you have to be prepared to lose your money whenever you invest in icos.
You shouldn't just invest in any ico without doing thorough research and proper consultations.personally I don't invest in projects that are not endorsed by some reputable figures in the cryptoverse after I have done due diligence, If i do it feels I am just giving my money to some faceless random people.

Not preparing for the worst in any investment is one of the reasons why people do not usually have a set out plan even before investing. However, to me, it is not even about expecting the worst; it is about trying to minimize the risk by investing in a quality ICO, but at the same time not investing what you cannot afford to lose.

That is always a smart way to go about any investment and even if the worst happens, you will know it must have been as a result of some factors beyond what one could have imagined, but would not shake you much since you did not get greedy in the first place.

Ir you're going to take the risks of course you must be prepared in every circumstances that may happen. Wether the ICO projects look promising but still you must be prepared for the worst scenarios. Everything has no happy ending but we wanted it, so better be careful if we really want a happy ending.

From the replies here I feel that most of the people are having bad experience with ICOs. I have very good experience except my very first one. I have been investing in ICOs for long time now and I have seen great ROI in most of them. Low market now affecting people in a bad way, but even now if you chose good you are still good to gain. At this market you just need to investigate the project more than ever before. Not only the team, roadmap and whitepaper, but also token metrics. Everything is important there – hardcap, use of token, bonuses, lockup period etc. I will not invest if I don’t like any of the parameters

I agree with you here. I have earned healthy profits from my investments in ICOs through a long period of time and have incurred little to no losses. My biggest investment in recent times is Oyster Pearl(PRL) which has helped me earn huge profits in the short term thanks to its insane rise in value during the end of last year. The parameters which you suggested (Team, whitepaper, roadmap, hardcap or softcap etc) are vital factors which need to be researched carefully before deciding whether to invest into a particular ICO or not.

You invest in ICO projects, you easily find great profits in a short time. But to do that, you have to prepare all the knowledge and techniques. And especially you have to find out about potential projects that you join then you can win the purpose that you set out.

The ICO market is only at the beginning of its development. It's really a lot of scams on the market that doesn't have the tools to regulate. But time will put everything in its place. I believe that there will be promising projects that will bring more income when implemented than as a fraudulent scheme.

Obviously. Time will definitely put a lot of that in place from the way things are going with regulation and how even some exchanges are beginning to respond to those changes in listing any coin or token. The thing to always bear in mind is not even about the losses one can get from the ICO for now, it is about investing in quality ones and investing what you can afford to lose in them.

Going out of this would always set in some emotional decisions which every investor should always know how to work against. I mean sometimes, we do give our personal preferences on choosing the ICO rather than going along with some well defined way of filtering out.
