In my opinion once these boards are everywhere, very few people will be mining with them, as there will be more profit to be made in other fashions.

You mean outside the world of cryptocurrencies?

Maybe some people have started using them? Or maybe the manufactures have start using it before shipping them?

The RVN's diff skyrocketed, it's almost double in 4 days. I doubt ASICs would be able to mine the x16r algo.... Maybe....

RVN difficulty had been in these ranges for quite some time except that a week or two it dropped drastically and now catching up back to normal diffs.

Important update today on the Zetheron website with new bitstreams designed to hold within the safe 170A current limit of the VCU1525:

http://zetheron.com/index.php/downloads/

If you are mining on the VCU1525 please update immediately.

A new update is posted about a very simple hardware mod to extend the life of your VCU1525 Dev Kit board:

Can you give some more information on what was changed in your bitstreams? Scaled down the clock frequency? Reduced the number of parallel processing paths? Cool to get some understanding on this topic Smiley

And so the battle against FPGA begins. Seems these coins devs/community aren’t too happy about this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4760399.new#new   Crypto sure is turning into a closed source project.  People deciding who and what can mine their coin.  This is MY baby.  Do not touch!!   What a shit show.  Open source till your money is threatened then bam.  If we just didn’t put money as a barrier to what we need in this world.  People wouldn’t be so greedy.  And if they are they are punished.  Greed as it is now is encouraged.  This will change in the future.

FPGA's taking over hashrate on DNR and then dumping daily is a bit cheesey, I agree. Proof of Stake being used against Proof of Work was an interesting way to slow that down. I can think of some ways the FPGA's could have used their massive mine of DNR to their advantage, but they didn't. What's being closed source anyways? And it was only a few weeks ago that people said FPGA's were fake.  Now people don't know how to avoid them.

Except POS/POW hybrid coins can ramp up the Proof of Stake percentage within 1 week. I am not against FPGA's in any way and can see this being just like bitcoin and scrypt asics. Only good will come from these.

@whitefire990,

- will you be coordinating the group buy? How soon will those  Bittware FPGAs  become available? In 2-3 weeks or in September?

- Since you are mining with VCU1525 could you recomment any specific RAM brands/model  that would work for sure with BCU1525?   I have bought a few FPGAs from Allmine and Squirrels but no-RAM version.
Thanks

The XUPVV4 is available very soon (a few weeks in small quantity), but the 300A 'mega' crypto board from Bittware will be October.  They are trying to get someone to organize a group buy, details available soon.

None of the developers are currently using the RAM in the VCU1525/BCU1525.  I would avoid buying any until a developer specifically mentions it.  In my case I extracted the RAM from all my VCU1525's to use in my PC's.
@whitefire990
Thank you Eric for the info on the boards release dates and RAM requirements.
Do you know by any chance what the price of 300A mega crypto board will be?

lol I thought about this about a year ago, thanks to whoever made this true  Smiley  Will try to get some FPGAs to program if they are not extremely expensive

here is what i recently got from bittware:

==================
Thank you for your inquiry.  Currently, we are working to create an optimized solution for your mining needs. This solution is just on the horizon and promises to include features we know the mining community will love from day one.

Once we are satisfied that this solution will meet the demands of the market we will be providing an update along with a timeline of availability of cards.  Only orders of 1,000 units or more will be accepted.  We are working with the community to come up with a way to get lower volumes into individual’s hands.  More new on this will be shared as soon as possible.

We look forward to providing you with a high quality and innovative mining solution in the coming weeks.
===================

anybody has any news on the dates, prices or a group buy from bittware?

I do have access to tentative pricing on the CVP-9 and CVP-13 but the individual or group that takes on the group order will also be given a small cut, so the final pricing is TBD.  ROI is slightly better than BCU1525.  I do know Bittware is already in talks with several prospective people on setting up the group order.

@whitefire990

that is great news. would you be willing to share the tentative prices? PM is fine too. could i join the group order? would be nice to just do that rather than reinvent the wheel. any min / max limits into one set of hands?

@whitefire990

I have checked out your website recently regarding bitstreams. I should say I am very confused if not disturbed having realized that there are no bitstreams available for public yet other than for 0xTocken. Hope you could bring some clarity here. When are you planning on releasing bitstreams for those top profitable algorithms you announced  in May - Keccak, Trubus, Phi1612 and Skuncash? Or did you change your mind for some reason?
  It is obvious that we are interested to have bitstreams tfor mining top profitable FPGA minable coins available by the time the first batch is delivered or soon after. Otherwise these FPGAs (considering the price, short warranty and difficulties with resale) will only be a huge risk and a waste of money for non-developer miners...

Thanks

It takes quite a lot of work to transition a bitstream from private use to public use (with dev fee and anti-piracy).  Since my original post May 1, the crypto-landscape changed dramatically.  Luxcoin forked away from Phi1612, making Phi1612 useless.  Baikal began mining Keccak with X10 ASICs, making Keccak non-profitable (and also Digital Cruncher released Keccak for the FPGA as well).  The few coins on Skunkhash collapsed, making it so that Skunkhash can only support 2-3 FPGA's at the moment.  The network hash rate on Tribus went up 4x (and also Digital Cruncher released Tribus first),  so what this all meant is that it was better to focus on high-profit coins for public release rather than package-up old bitstreams that are useless.  0xToken is available now, and I am releasing another algorithm on August 11, and four more in early September.  I am no longer going to announce which algorithms will be launched, since it was my original announcement of Phi1612 that was a major factor in LUXcoin forking (in hindsight I should have just launched the bitstream without ever announcing it first).

I hope that clarifies things.  If you still want Tribus and Keccak, you can download them Digital Cruncher's github.  Phi1612 and Skunkhash are available on Sprocket's github, although it isn't really worth installing them.
