There was another brainstorming giveaway started by MessyCoin, now he closed it. I'm starting another one - from 3 to 10 DTC for each who gives new idea!

Maybe splitting the coin to three tiers could be useful.

Tier1: Electrum-like lightweight clients (Win, Lin, oSX, Android) only for uploading and downloading stored files.
Tier2: storage nodes, for storing the blockchain and get paid for the storage space therefore providing the distributed storage space (bit like Qubic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=112676.0)
Tier3: miners, for transaction processing.

...if you like this idea:

Good idea, though it's not new, but can be very comfortable for splitting development in nearest future.

I think the lite client could be some HTML5 stuff.
The storage node could be the normal client with some additional stuff forked from Qubic. (BTW Come-from-Beyond isn't so far, just right in the neighboring NXT topics Smiley.)
The miner is just a normal miner, no changes needed.

maybe the blockchain could hold encrypted bitcoin wallet.dat files. some online service could use that data, so users would have their wallets available like online wallets.

Very obvious, but easy to implement feature Roll Eyes :
We need a nodelist with static ip's and 99% online nodes built in client (datacoin.conf file or other way). Most of new users cant sync, and nodelists are often outdated.

Good, also to be done. BTW: at least one static node is at 50.112.43.170 , it's block explorer node Smiley

Probably someone asked about adding proof-of-work ?
Right now there is a chineese private pool and a high risk of botnets in future due to cpu mining, so 51% attack is real.

There is Chinese private pool, also Rpool - not private, possibly ypool\beeeer will add support (but we should remind them about Datacoin as much as possible)

and what POW do you mean?

We need to ask oocook5u . I'm not sure that it is possible to add PoS to existing blockchain mechanism.

Proof-of-stake is good, but it's hard to implement,

So i am suggesting to add proof-of-activity to this coin. (more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102355.0)

Proof-of-activity would be very new and only coin has it would be datacoin. it is also better than proof-of-work conceptually.

Proof-of-activity is really brilliant idea. But just now I cannot imagine how hard is to implement it into existing coin and network Smiley

1. Client now is both windows\linux, Mac support will also be added.
2. domain - what do you mean? datacoin.info is up and running (and still upgrading Smiley team is working at pools\wallet, so site will be updated after that)
3. Client is also open source - see github. All other resources will be also added to github when finished.
4. Marketing - we need it, now discussing some kind of FAQ\Press-Release with developer. If you can post at any huge web resources (not only forum), please let me know.

ypool dev told yesterday that he doesn't have plan to support DTC (just now?), but hopefully he will change his opinion. Anyway, team still working at getting pools up and running.

Please claim your coins in an hour via PM - not at my workstation now Wink
