The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the

Maybe splitting the coin to three tiers could be useful. Tier1: Electrum-like lightweight clients (Win, Lin, oSX, Android) only for uploading and downloading stored files. Tier2: storage nodes, for storing the blockchain and get paid for the storage space therefore providing the distributed storage space (bit like Qubic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=112676.0) Tier3: miners, for transaction processing. ...if you like this idea: D5f9nsvC4qhMcXpAMxcfYDCyLcSyidWg4f

I think the lite client could be some HTML5 stuff. The storage node could be the normal client with some additional stuff forked from Qubic. (BTW Come-from-Beyond isn't so far, just right in the neighboring NXT topics .) The miner is just a normal miner, no changes needed.

maybe the blockchain could hold encrypted bitcoin wallet.dat files. some online service could use that data, so users would have their wallets available like online wallets.

Very obvious, but easy to implement feature : We need a nodelist with static ip's and 99% online nodes built in client (datacoin.conf file or other way). Most of new users cant sync, and nodelists are often outdated.

Probably someone asked about adding proof-of-work ? Right now there is a chineese private pool and a high risk of botnets in future due to cpu mining, so 51% attack is real.

There is Chinese private pool, also Rpool - not private, possibly ypool\beeeer will add support (but we should remind them about Datacoin as much as possible) and what POW do you mean?

Proof-of-stake is good, but it's hard to implement, So i am suggesting to add proof-of-activity to this coin. (more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102355.0) Proof-of-activity would be very new and only coin has it would be datacoin. it is also better than proof-of-work conceptually. if you liked, my address is: DL86XwJwd3DQbKccrYWQz7wpUnDj2wbcpB

1. Client now is both windows\linux, Mac support will also be added. 2. domain - what do you mean? datacoin.info is up and running (and still upgrading team is working at pools\wallet, so site will be updated after that) 3. Client is also open source - see github. All other resources will be also added to github when finished. 4. Marketing - we need it, now discussing some kind of FAQ\Press-Release with developer. If you can post at any huge web resources (not only forum), please let me know.

I like the web wallet, and doing transaction on web with DTC adress and authentication. So we can access our wallet and control it anywhere, not just computers but also phones.
And the most valued thing for now is providing a open/official pool~

About the Datacoin Qt. The window name is "Datacoin - Wallet" but when you open the debug window it has the name "Bitcoin - Debug window" which is pretty confusing if you also use bitcoins. There is also other information related to Bitcoin which shouldn't really be there.

BTCe really doesn't want to add new coins now. I mailed them two times, but they declined my offers. There are tons of petitions to BTCe in this subforum, and still no result from them. We need firstly go to Cryptsy, after it holders shouldn't dump coins and price to zero. In 1-2 months, when we develop several applications and build strong community, we can ask BTCe one more time. Do you personally work as promoter?

You could have another giveaway for businesses that are willing to accept DTC as payment for their products, that would get the word out more and I know someone just did that with quark and as you can see the price is at a record high.
Make it so that more people know about DTC, get it on cryptsy, have converters online so people have easy access for converting DTC to BTC to see the amount it's worth.
Make data coin unique by having duel miners for a small amount of BTC combined with DTC so people are attracted to the new coin and get a small amount of BTC from their mining.
I hope these ideas help I have several more if you have any questions about the ones above let me know.
thanks

It would be great if the Datacoin site offered an online wallet for users of mobile connections with limited bandwidth.

Don't know if I can get more but here are some more ideas
-Make a data coin website that has the trends of the DTC price and the projected gain in price over the next few weeks -When you search data coin nothing comes up on google so you may want to have someone create a website that just talks about what data coin is and why it's better than the other currencies, with a link to where these people can buy DTC -Get businesses and people to accept DTC as payment for items because then more people will buy into the idea of the new coin

I don't know if this has been said before, but Datacoin could probably be the host of its own exchange! Each buy/sell transaction could take the DTC as a fee, and the metadata has the transaction details. This coin seems really interesting, and I hope it gets more popular soon.
And yes let's get the pools cranking out already!

It's in progress now, we're waiting for linux miner version. After it I'll post full article about mining. It would be great to to implement "Your storage" build-in the client, something like a domain manager in new namecoin: DNazsHLkWPPy6ZyybEueqwyKH5jK9oW6e7 mstfck works at this, he recently showed me this feature in linux wallet, so we'll get it on windows soon D6KJcvFPsfcdfVVufsnhtbFnBNVMUtpRc5 It would be great if the Datacoin site offered an online wallet for users of mobile connections with limited bandwidth.
We also thought about that, so now krypte.net is usable for mobiles, and later we'll develop Android\iPhone apps for wallet.

1. It can be implemented at current version of the site, I will work with this. 2. It's also in progress now, we have a journalist who will publish some articles soon 3. DTC is 'service and money' all-in-one, so it doesn't need to be accepted by 3rd parties so strong as other coins need. But there is Datacoin Bounty thread, and rewards announced for implementing DTC on websites. DHuqapZ4uwn6pvfPFJRtJadEF3qeCbZ18x I don't know if this has been said before, but Datacoin could probably be the host of its own exchange! Each buy/sell transaction could take the DTC as a fee, and the metadata has the transaction details. This coin seems really interesting, and I hope it gets more popular soon. Awesome idea, it's something like mastercoin mechanism. It is not for near future, but it really can be implemented. Coins sent to all! Thanks for ideas!

-You should consider making some lottery games where you can win data coins as prizes to attract awareness there are already tons of bit coin games out there and they continue to draw more attention to the coin -Make sure there are data coin accounts on all the social networks to make everyone aware -Get endorsed by some bit bit coin players so people can see this coin is reliable

What about a feature that allows sending encrypted messages to a given address? Datacoin chain stores data and we know that it can be encrypted (we must encrypt that to ensure privacy if we want it), but if we want to send a message to someone we must tell him the block where the message has been stored and provide him with our public key. If this functionality was one click we would have a paid (with DTC because is uploading data in the chain) method of sending encrypted messages to any given address.

A faucet, and some more giveaways. This will require an investment but it will make the coin more "famous" and the more people have datacoins , the higher the price will be. Also maybe a post on some forums to tell what the advantages are of datacoin over other coins.

I think datacoin should not reward only the computation power of miner, but the fact of storing the blockchain too. Hashpower is important to secure the network, but datacoin is about storage, so the one who store the blockchain should get a cut.
Right now, the guy who mine a block get the block reward + all the fee.
Instead of going to the miner, the fee should be spread between all the blockchains. Mining recquire to store the blockchain too, but the fee shouldn't reward pure hashpower, but storaging.
I would go even further : I think the reward per block (currently ~10DTC) should be spread too, not only the fees. Like a 50/50 split, 5dtc to the miner and 5 dtc to blockchains
To not bloat the blockchain with a lot of tiny transaction and to create a more fair distribution, i think all those block reward and fee should go to a single neutral adress. Then after like 1 days (1440 block), this adress would automaticly redistribute equally the reward to all blockchains with 100% uptime for that day (1440 block).
It would probably recquire a hardfork, but this would ensure people have interest in storing the entire blockchain. Because in the near future, blockchain could grow big very quickly and people would only mine on a pool, without storing the blockchain, because it's the same reward right now.
tl,dr : Storage of the blockchain need to be rewarded

I do not want to offend you with my comment, it is not my intention, but rather the opposite.
Many times we need ideas to keep the illusion and strength, but that usually does not let us see the weaknesses we have. You know better than anyone else what, it is good to stop and reflect, improve and let the ideas come to intución itself later. If you want to grow in the project, be patient. In my opinion this is the best idea .. Patience!

Non related to coin development, but ideaas/apps related to data.
I am not technically speaking about datacoin.
Based on the name, I have some ideas to share here.
1. Award big bounty to anyone who can dedicate and come up with the next generation compression algorithm that compresses data more than the existing compression algorithms. For example, 7z, winzip for file compression, image compression, db compression etc., It takes time for developers to work. It will help fuel datacoins worldwide.
2. Ask people to come up with great internet technologies related to encryption, decryption, security and award them the coins.
3. Try to create dtc/usd exchange if possible.
4. Ask designers to pictorically explain or represent datacoins and award them.
5. Continue the brainstorm giveaway, read it atleast 2 times a day. Provide constructive feedback to every contributor. This will add good relationship to the community. Don't miss to offer atleast a coin to everyone responds you.
Hope to come again and post something new.
Thanks for reading.
Ok for now.
And for giveaway bonus,

Thanks

You need to keep DTC in news articles and blogs everywhere if you could get some mentions in the NYT or CNN it would be big for DTC. Everyone heres about BTC everywhere because of the news but if you could get some of that publicity you could easily increase the amount of people on DTC exponentially. You could put up a bounty for people to write articles for the news or their blogs if they have a large amount of followers. I know that you have a bounty out for promotion but you could put some bigger bounties on a specific news article or blog post. Just an idea...

I also thought about this, it always annoys me when I need to download 100MB file for an hour-two (with 6Mbit bandwidth) All I think that you should have to add is an exchange and a converter. Thanks.

Nothing offensive here, we know weaknesses of our project and working hard to fix all of them. (1), (2) - need to think about it, (3) - we want to do this in not far future. In regards to the "noob" post, an easy append to the client would be reinstating the mining button. It is understandable why it was removed from SHA-256 and Scrypt coins, but CPU PoW systems should have the system available, would make it more noob-friendly.

You could put up a bounty for people to write articles for the news or their blogs if they have a large amount of followers. I know that you have a bounty out for promotion but you could put some bigger bounties on a specific news article or blog post. Just an idea...
we're working at that with our promoters. Help! I'm a noob - need a help option in the menue for all my questions, no readme, no howto, nothing in any downloaded wallet. - need more infos about stand alone cpu mining - need a wallet.dat file on an extern usb-stick, this file must be outside my pc
Cool idea, very simple to implement, but sometimes developers are not thinking about this I can work at that myself if I have time to compile Datacoin-QT today. Coins will be sent to everyone in ~10-20 minutes! This is nice to see you are taking neat efforts for good promotion of coins. Thanks for reading my words and others too. Keep it going. Good luck to your efforts. Thanks. I received the giveaway. Cheers

Hi again,
1. I don't know about online wallets. Does datacoin have online wallet like blockchain?
2. If you want to giveaway more coins and wide spread, create an entity online/offline and ask users to submit issues - let others solve it. Pay to both seekers and givers initially. As datacoin is trading well, everyone gets decent amount of coins. Later, it can be extended for people to pay for the solutions, if the site matures well.
3. Hosting, Online storage. Provide yours or request existing providers to accepts dtc as means of payments.
4. Put a request to ecommerce payment gateway providers to include dtc to the existing payment options.
5. And if anyone responds to you and adopts dtc, offer some discounts or bonus to the business for every dtc payment they receive.
6. Many designers and developers, service providers stall a row in services section. Ask them to accept dtc too. Award some bonus for those who accepts dtc. List somewhere for those who have shown interest in accepting dtc payment.
Still thinking...
Will join again.
Thanks.
Goodluck

I'd like to see something on the DataCoin web-site about CPU-only coins and how it is that those coins can't (or can't easily) be mined by GPU. I unfortunately don't really understand the difference between CPU-mined coins and GPU coins.
Also, I don't see anything in the wallet program regarding the file upload. Perhaps the key feature of the coin would be more usable if a person could just use the QT GUI to select a file on their hard drive to upload.
Thanks!

thanks Dkulak, I don't think that it helps now. I'd like to see something on the DataCoin web-site about CPU-only coins and how it is that those coins can't (or can't easily) be mined by GPU. I unfortunately don't really understand the difference between CPU-mined coins and GPU coins.

CPU-only means that there are [still] no GPU ports, or there exists port, but GPU is inprofitable comparing with CPU. File upload will be added soon, I also told about it. I want to work at that maybe today or during weekend, if I am succeed at that, I'll post unofficial wallet with data transfer feature. Also you can go to https://krypte.net and test this feature online.

What if you had someone compile a database or a website that had all links to DTC topics, forums, mining pools, prices, stats, and articles. Like a site where someone could go and it would have almost everything ever done on DTC so that if one wanted to research it they have it all in one place instead of scattered here and there. I know you have a forum but I am talking about a centralized database that talks about DTC and has most of the big articles and important links/facts on it.

Medical security number and other personal data are usually numeric and very difficult to remember, so that they can get online with datacoin.

Datacoins sent! Medical certificates - it's easier to store its number than remember TX id but you can write down necessary info to text file, encrypt it and send to Datacoin - so you'll need only one TX id to get all of it!

Set up a Datacoin faucet. While faucets do not add much to the ecosystem, they are good at attracting new users. The faucet could be ran by donations from people who want to support Datacoin and its concept. I hope this coin will succeed, as it actually has a purpose (and so does its proof-of-work system, too!).

Thought about recent giveaways and the way Datacoin is going... Cryptocoins generally lack any inner value, today their main purpose is speculation. Easy to see especially with many altcoins experiencing pump and dump schemes. Lots of people buy them hoping for bitcoin-like exponential growth. Datacoin is one of very few different. From initial thread: Datacoin is intended to be reliable censorship-free data storage and a currency to pay for this storage. Money transfer isn't the first purpose of Datacoin.Data storage is the inner purpose of DTC, giving Datacoin its inner value. BUT its inner value does not have to be equal to its price. While I appreciate giveaway and cryptsy “fight”, I think I see you are going every-other-coin-way here. I think you should not promote Datacoin in first place. You should focus all your efforts at Datacoin uses, services, etc. Build a user base around them. Make Datacoin not a target, but *just* a tool for people. That would reinforce its inertial value by making the coin itself simply useful. You should really make this coin a tool first and a coin second. And – sorry to say that – I think that going the “Dogecoin-way” ( ), with giveaways, twitter, cryptsy and buzz, while may seem desirable on a short time frame, on a long way run may destroy the uniqueness if DTC would became too successful this way. With tool-first approach DTC price would depend on its usefulness and usefulness of all DTC-related ecosystem. DTC price cannot be too high. Don't get me wrong, theres still space to grow here, but it would be quite bound to a data storage function, and here price cannot rise above sanity levels. Additionally, function-bound price could be quite stable. Just these orders of magnitude jumps that would make all this speculation crowd happy would render Datacoin unusable, practically depleting it of its inner value. Unless we imagine a dystopian future, where people are willing to pay many thousands of dollars for every byte of decentralized redundant censorship-free storage... maxsolnc - DTC addres is the same as is on github I showed to you at bounties thread ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=365049.msg4159290#msg4159290), that is: DMy7cMjzWycNUB4FWz2YJEmh8EET2XDvqz

I dont like the dogeway either. i suppose this is happening because cryptsy for some reason is ignoring datacoin. Cryptsy has added a hundreds of retarded coins and will continue to do so but not Datacoin... so we take the dogeway i suppose until cryptsy adds datacoin. Because the coin needs a slightly better exchange really... indeed more services for datacoin would be perfect. And i hope that people will soon come with more ideas and services.

I know all of that, but we need to attract as many developers as we can. When we started twitter buzz and giveaways, number of mails from 3rd parties developers increased a lot! So, of course, we can do nothing like promo and do everything ourselves, but it will be so slow. And yes, miners are interested to sell their coins, but many of them don't want to go to bter. If we are not listening to miners, coin will be vulnerable to attacks and fail. it is preferable to change the logo, which represent a currency, and also email contact address , it's not professional , gmail !
what's wrong with logo? And yes, forgot to mention that our mail is now support@datacoin.info (it redirects messages to gmail, but nobody cares ) hey gentleman give some coin to the lady
hahaha, are you the first lady in Datacoin? Make us smile, take a photo of yourself with paper with words on it: "Best regards to Datacoin team!" Nothing vulgar, just ordinary photo force everyone to use datacoin instead of the dollar, then knock everyone out who supports litecoin and bitcoin. worth a try you're joking of course Coins sent to everyone above this thread (except mahieddine - no address and no photo )

It's not something that could fuel this long term... BTW. I think you should stress Primecoin heritage more. You know, prime numbers chains and stuff. I read about what the new Earthcoin forum is doing and I believe Netcoin(NET) did the something similar. When you make a post, new topic etc you are credited a small amount of coins to your account. Since the DTC forum is need of more traffic we could try something similar? It seems to me it is a good incentive for new adopters/users. -From EAC forum; "Here is a quick overview: posting, replying, uploading media, updating profiles, making friends, joining groups, writing Docs and Wikis, and sending invites all give rewards. Deleting posts and replies, and having posts marked as spam deduct from your earnings."I have no idea what it would take to "code" this into the forum(IDK if I'm even using the right words). Giveaways take time and cost quite a lot. Giving user a small amount like this is a self-driven process after it has been "coded", except for the moderation of spam. No double checking user accounts on bitcointalk, no checking twitter for replies, no checking to see if the wallet-address is used over and over for more coins. For example; 0.05DTC per action = 1DTC per 20 actions. As time goes by and more users registers, the reward can be lowered until there is enough activity on the forum and the reward is 0 0.05 might be too much, I am not experienced with how much traffic this could generate. just a thought.

What I miss:
- easy portability for external use (usb-stick, external ssd) - build in p2p exchange !!!!!! (I know there are some other developments) - possibility to create physical datacoins - good help function for usability - build in download of the actual block chain
by the way:
- may it be possible to pack (zip, rar ...) the block chain?

I like the idea of rewarding storage of the blockchain. As a miner, I'd be willing to store the blockchain on my mining machines. My machines all have hard drives since I'm a Windows miner, and most of my hard drive space is unused. I could see a lot of other miners being in the same position as me, willing to store data. This would seem to exclude Linux miners though, as many, if not most of them run their machines on a USB flash drive. One potential solution to this would be to allow people to store a part of the blockchain, and compensate people by the GB. Rewards should be more like a 95/5 (or maybe even 99/1) split though, as mining is much more important than data storage redundancy here I believe. There will always be copies of the block chain as long as there are wallets and pools running, but miners can, and will, go elsewhere. They must always be well compensated, or the security of the Datacoin network will be in danger. DADmjsrQNBhEk6GfBkCfiv9PP9X4yo2NcE

I should pass the idea to mstfck who is creator of Datacointalk - easy portability for external use (usb-stick, external ssd) - build in p2p exchange !!!!!! (I know there are some other developments) - possibility to create physical datacoins - good help function for usability - build in download of the actual block chain
by the way:
- may it be possible to pack (zip, rar ...) the block chain?
1. Now it's really easy to do it with simple bat file and 'datadir' option. But maybe you're right, we need to include this bat file into basic installation. 2, 3. wait, wait, not all these things together in one time 4. TBA to future wallet release. I'm already aware of info leak in current help, so we'll include better documentation for it. 5. It's actual idea, we've also thought about that.
They must always be well compensated, or the security of the Datacoin network will be in danger. DADmjsrQNBhEk6GfBkCfiv9PP9X4yo2NcE As it was discussed earlier, it will be easy to cheat in case of 'storage reward' : symlinks, VPSes, several processes, etc etc. Clever technical guys will find ways to get reward from 1 copy as for 100, 1000 or more copies. It is easy to implement 'just as feature', but it will be really vulnerable. And remember about 'personal chains' concept - it should help a lot, and remember: most people prefer to keep their money not in pool wallets or online storages, but on their local machines. How about monetizing the chain by finding clients who want data stored? that way it would be tied to real value instead of having to do the exchange thing. D5Zd1bb3MvVhFEBXTtx3UuVuApbXCAiM6Q

Datacoin Cryptocoins generally lack any inner value, today their main purpose is speculation. Easy to see especially with many altcoins experiencing pump and dump schemes. Lots of people buy them hoping for bitcoin-like exponential growth. Datacoin is one of very few different. From initial thread: So far so good Datacoin is intended to be reliable censorship-free data storage and a currency to pay for this storage. Money transfer isn't the first purpose of Datacoin.
Data storage is the inner purpose of DTC, giving Datacoin its inner value. You must promote, it's a battlefield out there. Soon local supermarkets will mine their own coins, very localized to a country or even a region. Value mostly based on convenience. And I'm waiting for Pokemon Coin by Sony ;p With Datacoin there indeed is an added value: secure data storage. I would not know yet what kind of application can use that, but where a possibility exists, applications will be found. I really think they will be micro-small amounts with micro-values (but influenced, in price, by speculation). I think banking, I think personal data like contacts, ... I dunno. Could be subscription based too, leaving datacoin, in value, very static - and stable. With low costs to operate and maintain. Can't argue here. With the last part. The first part... Hmmm... Let me think. I think Datacoin indeed has the potential to create the next Tulip Crash ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania). So I'd wait till it rises above a certain point - which one I do not know yet Then, I'd start pumping it into some automated trading systems (like http://goo.gl/bVM0ZV - scforum.info, mining like a sir), trying to push profits (and the coin) into higher (other) regions... Unless we imagine a dystopian future, where people are willing to pay many thousands of dollars for every byte of decentralized redundant censorship-free storage... http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130711132208/mk_/images/2/25/Anchorman_well_that_escalated_quickly_966.jpg

Considering the relatively high cost of storing data in the chain and the fact that there are several cloud service offering few gigabytes of free space (but they can close your account, someone can hack the account ... so may not be so secure, though "good enough" for most people), the storage needs to be specialized. One idea could be sort of connecting/interacting with tor, providing sort of DNS for TOR hidden services (mapping from some nice names to hidden service names abcdefghijkl.onion), or even normal services (IPv4/IPv6's) for countries with less favorable censorship laws. It would work by storing special packet with DNS record, signed by private wallet key (it may be implicitly signed by the coin sender, but this may not be always what is wanted, for example if transaction is paid from some web wallet service or someone else). Updates to DNS would mean republishing a new DNS record to replace the old one. It has to be signed by the same private key. Optionally, the DNS record could also list wallet addresses (thereby defining private keys that can sign it), that can also update the records (i.e. create replacement records) for that domain - if such records are present, then management of the domain can be delegated to other people. Possibly it could be possible to delegate only part of a subdomain, like only "mail" subdomain to someone else. So for example, if my address is DJEM5aC9TpuNf1SShV5ESdExKu2nGQH7sP and I want to register domain "singula.data" pointing to some hidden service in TOR, the record could look like: DOMAIN|name=singula.data|address=zbcdefghijklmnoq.onion|owner=DJEM5aC9TpuNf1SShV5ESdExKu2nGQH7sP|delegation:mail.singula.data=(address of friend managing the mail server)
... and the whole will be signed by my private key (private key for my address DJEM5aC9TpuNf1SShV5ESdExKu2nGQH7sP) Simple records would likely would fit into 1 Kb with the signature, so the cost would be 0.1 DTC When resolving, you must unfortunately go from first block, find first record, then move up to see if there are replacement records and if they are correctly signed. Though you have to do the same for ordinary transactions Domain records are short, so it would not cost a fortune to put these records in the blockchain (though unlike traditional DNS, you have to pay for updates) and may be a nice alternative to traditional DNS.

hmmm, Well i am not too good at ideas. And honestly i am still pretty new to this crypto coin shit..
but something i would like to see out of a coin like this. Would be to team up with a cloud site.
Trade DTC for time on a cloud site = mine DTC with their cpu. ( you could mine anything but just staying DTC). There are alot of cpu coins lately.
More and more people are wanting Cloud service. So if they can use DTC for cloud time. Would bring up the price. And would make DTC wanted outside the average crypto groups.
Honestly remember, I don't know what you are looking for in ideas. Just my thought. I can't mine this with my laptop. And if i remember this coin is about data storage. And using cloud hold your cpu miners is kinda like that right?

You must promote, it's a battlefield out there. Soon local supermarkets will mine their own coins, very localized to a country or even a region. Value mostly based on convenience. And I'm waiting for Pokemon Coin by Sony ;p I didn't say that you should never ever promote anything. Just that (IMO) it's better long term if not the coin itself is promoted, but services aroud it (therby a coin too, but indirectly). Assuming that these services will be succesful, offcourse. And making that is really the hard part, and here (+exchange problem,+attracting devs, etc) comes rationale behind coin-focused promotion. With Datacoin there indeed is an added value: secure data storage. Heh.. I saw something on twitter and I'm thinking about it from yesterday... There are books on more or less free licenses, like CC or GNU GPL. They are, rare. Very rare. But they allow at least for free distribution, or even modification. Thats kind of filosophical value, much better propagated in open-source crowd these days... If we could finde somebody that wrote a book and made it free as in the speech and is promoting it now? Yeah, I know, with these "artist" mentality happens "once every twenty five years"... I you're feeling hurt with last sentence look at the quotation-marks!But if we could, what about publishing it to a blockchain? Ideally with launch of service for that, easy to use for layman (there seems to be krypte already). Sending requires some datacoins. Why not crowdfund that? Yeah, make buzz, set crowdfunding campain, which goal would be sending free as in a speech and free as in a beer book to decentralized, redundant, globally accessible censorship-free storage. (There could different cash goals, for sending basic compressed text version, text version+image cover, pdf+epub...) And if content of this book would fit the above... YEAH.

Add a new tab to the client named "file browser" where you can see all the files uploaded and you can upload files. And for the name support add an other db file and an online blockchain will be used so the client not have to download the chain (for saving space). Ensure that mining is well understood and easy to set up even for the most newbie in the crypto business and the coin will sky rocket
Now it's pretty easy to setup xpool\gpool miner on Windows. Am I wrong? Starting a faucet might be good. That is always attractive for beginners.
Do you have any devs (or maybe yourself) who can start faucet? Of course it will be rewarded. Considering the relatively high cost of storing data in the chain and the fact that there are several cloud service offering few gigabytes of free space (but they can close your account, someone can hack the account ... so may not be so secure, though "good enough" for most people), the storage needs to be specialized.
If you look into Datacoin git, you can see that HTTP server is under active development, so it will be pretty easy to store\receive data and make other actions with help of simple HTTP requests\responses, encryption can be also included. In future TOR can also be included into the network - as soon as we get developer who knows TOR well, we can work at that. hmmm, Well i am not too good at ideas. And honestly i am still pretty new to this crypto coin shit.. but something i would like to see out of a coin like this. Would be to team up with a cloud site.

Do you mean renting miner's CPUs for Datacoin? How about a website that gives away small amount of DTC for clicking on adds. The giveaway would be financed by the adds revenues, and that would distribute the stakes of datacoin on more people.
The same answer as for faucet, look above Add a new tab to the client named "file browser" where you can see all the files uploaded and you can upload files. And for the name support add an other db file and an online blockchain will be used so the client not have to download the chain (for saving space). And add "Private messages" option to send message to a selected people.
It will be released with major GUI changes - with new wallet you'll be able to upload\download data, browse files, etc directly from its GUI. You should make bounties for people to make youtube videos on how to get data coin, sell data coin, the facts behind data coin, and just some good info and support videos for those who are just getting started I think it would grow interest and increase the knowledge of current data coin users.
There is also 'bounties' thread, but if you think that Youtube rewards should be separate... hmm, I'll think about that. This is a simple idea, but I think necessary.
missing "," no currency in their wallets that implements
example: 25000000.325, is easy to make mistakes with many zeros
haha, cool Thanks for ideas to all! As you see, anyone with strong developer skills and free time can come to this thread, pick up an idea that is not in official development right now and start creating his own project. It's really awesome, many thanks to all posters!!Coins will be sent in ~5 minutes.

@maxsolnc - Not comment about publishing CC/GPL book to a blockchain? I'm still trying to think of where such beast could be found... But if found it could be used to promote DTC too. And: This is a simple idea, but I think necessary.
missing "," no currency in their wallets that implements
example: 25000000.325, is easy to make mistakes with many zeros
haha, cool Be carefull with dots, commas and language versions, this can differ from country to country. For example 100,000 = 100 (not mistake, "," is a decimal mark).

I am not very technical but...
1) do encrypted emails through Datacoin wallet 2) do a flashing video for Datacoin selling to the masses (offer it in a competition) 3) have you seen curecoin and Gridcoin and how their mining is used for research? 4) offer an encrypting tool on the datacoin wallet - so that a person can send a file to a receiver who can only open it with a datacoin wallet (wallet to wallet encryption)

Hope that's useful

Now to see any value of the coins you should go to the exchanges, would add great value in the wallet of Datacoin in dollars

Do you have any devs (or maybe yourself) who can start faucet? Of course it will be rewarded.
Base faucet should be quite easy technically (just send some money to the wallet and then put up a form to disperse them). But you should at least some anti-abuse measures (compination of sending only limited amount of times per ip per time interval, captcha, ...), otherwise bots may suck the faucet dry in mere minutes. Perhaps logging to show how much was sent from the faucet may come in handy, to keep ledger with the funds. Once the amounts are low, you may also need to group the transactions o save on txfees. I'm quite busy currently due to project deadline, but perhaps I'll whip up something useful next week.

I just asked mumus if he can make a faucet. Let see if he answers positive...
so what about mumus? @maxsolnc - Not comment about publishing CC/GPL book to a blockchain? I'm still trying to think of where such beast could be found... But if found it could be used to promote DTC too. And: This is a simple idea, but I think necessary.

Hmm, it really needs to be investigated - I don't know such books. There are great books with expired copyright, but GPL one is better, I understand. I am not very technical but...

1. IMAO it's better to use bitmessage for that 2. So many ideas for paid promotions, so few donations 3. Of course I saw, I like both concepts, but they differ from Datacoin - Gridcoin\Curecoin are scientific cryptos, Datacoin is engineering one. 4. The same as in (1), it's not good idea to use Datacoin just as messaging system, it will be expensive and it will bloat blockchain. People should save only files that are really needed to be stored for a very long time. Now to see any value of the coins you should go to the exchanges, would add great value in the wallet of Datacoin in dollars
chainbrowser also allows it, and it is not primary idea for Datacoin. But this can be simply added by GUI developers, thanks. Do you have any devs (or maybe yourself) who can start faucet? Of course it will be rewarded.

I know that faucet 'itself' is rather easy, even easier than blockexplorer (I wrote simple one just after start of Datacoin, now it is closed - we have better alternatives). It will be very appreciated and rewarded if you can do that

Implement a BlockChain explorer into the DTC Client, and also come up with an integrated shortening service with will register as fileservice in windows. So if you klick "dtc://WAu1pye" in IE or FF, it will be shown in the Datacoin Wallet Application or at least it can be downloaded there! That would be so awesome!

Yes actually a block explorer on the client must be very easy now! i would like to see it. And generally more features on the client. I was thinking that since miners are open source maybe it could be put on the client so people can pool mine from client. Maybe it wont be 100% efficient but it is helpfull for people who dont know many things...It will surely attract people.
