This will never happen because firstly there is a big difference in the price and secondly bitcoins have a limited amount that Ethereum does not have.

Bitcoin is mother currency and I don't think Ethereum is cross btc any day but ether has potential to remain always after btc. Btc has limited supply of 21 million and ether have more then btc so technically if we want to cross ether over btc we have to decrease ether coin and increase market cap of ether and that is not possible.

Of course ETH will be but it'll not so soon because distance from price of ETH to BTC price is still really far and I think 3, 4 or maybe 5 years can't help ETH price can reach to high price as BTC. I never image that, i always think  BTC is the diamond in crypto and it will be in the TOP1 in cryto world. ETH with many advantages which is the typical token in blockchain 2.0 but i think it many be need more time to reach the BTC level or can not reach.

Ethereum is a very good and potential coin, many practical applications are also using ETH but for me to replace Bitcoin is very unlikely even though it is ETH. Bitcoin still has a great place in this market and to replace it is extremely difficult. The innovation will be good but sustainable value will survive with time.
