Is there a way to help secure the IFC network somehow? I know mining is not really an option because I believe almost all coins have been mined already. What do you think this coin needs to go forward? It deserves to do just as good as Doge, I believe they are almost just as old
I'm going to be sounding like a broken record to regulars in this thread but I'll summarize it again:
- Adding more nodes (computers running wallets) does not secure the network in any way.
The only way to secure the network is to mine the coin.- Adding more nodes does not secure the network. I thought I should mention that one more time.
- Current mining rewards are nil, which means miners are unlikely (in the long term) to use mining resources to mine this coin. This leaves the coin open to a potential 51% attack.
- I set up a solution that rewards miners, without needing any code changes, but since it cannot create rewards from thin air (like true mining) it relies on donations from others. There have been a small amount of donations but nowhere near enough to sustain the system. At this point it has been weeks since the last donation.
There are two ways to move this coin forward:
1. Using my auto-faucet system (or something similar based on the concept) to reward miners. But this relies on donations of existing funds, which so far hasn't been working so great.
2. Forking the code so that the network itself begins to reward miners again. This requires that everyone (including exchanges) update the client.
