It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I'm wondering whether we're going to see the inverse of what used to happen in the past, people buying after a major hack, instead of selling. After all, people who lost bitcoin due to hacks will probably want to have them back..

Yep... they totally sent money to the exchanges that quick Roll Eyes.

The charts have been very bullish lately.  I doubt this move is related to what happened at BTC-E.

If the idea is right the effect can be immediate since some people already have money in exchanges. Selling induced by hack-panic would be pretty quick too. I think it's safe to say at this point the people who hold coins are mostly people who have decided to hold them through attacks since attacks are always happening.

+1 agreed, hacks wont cause much if any selling.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.
