Only way DOGE is going to have this happen is if someone other than the current devs fork it. Otherwise, DOGE is in the "return to mean meme" stage. ( www.DogecoinCharts.com) Whoever forks it should put a strong cap on it @ give the community what the OP originally said in December.

Mohland is quite enthusiastic about merge-mining. Perhaps you could contact him about forking Dogecoin?

I would be all over Mohland like a spider monkey if I still had a single DOGE to my name, but I was cashed her in @ the peaks. I still come here because I really honestly do want to see DOGE make it for years to come. I spent a metric fuck ton of time giving away free DOGE to people. Do it Lynn or I'm sure that mofo is reading this too

It was an interesting read where he describes the reasons why it might not be wise to switch to proposed solutions, but no solution is given :/ Sure none of them are perfect, but it's about time the community and devs find concensus on what is the lesser of all evils.

Do it Lynn or I'm sure that mofo is reading this too I wouldn't be the one to do it, since I find PoS to be a better solution Not only it would solve the hashrate problem, but it would solve the inflation one too, by giving every users interests which compensate for it. Thanks for giving me the mental image of spider monkeys anxiously frolicing on Mohland!

Unless I missed some big news, all PoS coins are doing fine except for Vericoin's fiasco. PoW is the best way to distribute a coin, but PoS seems like a more logical choice for efficient and cheap security which favours all users rather than random miners. I'm not familiar with all PoS coins, but pretty sure most of them is not doing great. They tend to lose in value. Peercoin, MINT, Colossus to name a few. Mining is always related with certain costs (hardware, electricity) which should, in theory add some value. While PoS will be considered by many as 'free coins' and they would more likely to dump them at any price. It would also strongly affect number of transactions (tipping, donating) and promote hoarding. I'm not totally against PoS idea, but just don't see it as perfect solution. Think PoW with reasonable inflation is better imho. But unlike others, I'd rather see DOGE as functional currency rather than as investment commodity (just like with fiat, you wouldn't keep USD under your mattress, coz it'll lose its value over time, and if you want a gain - you'd need to invest it somehow).

On paper the only long term solution is to merge mine, obviously not everyone agrees and with so many party's involved it is near impossible to please everyone. Doge is not made for PoS and it would be forced into something which is a bad fit. Not only is it bad for the coin, it would be bad for the entire crypto-scene if something as big as doge changes the horse mid race. Most people still dont understand this bitcoin thing and think at $600 price it is a bubble. Bitcoin and every other PoW coin is a intangible good just like your shoe is a tangible good. Who generates a PoW coin is irrelevant, lets face it when was the last time you made your own shoe? Most people are quiet happy to wear a shoe made by some multi-billion dollar big company. As an intangible good, 3/4 of the Bitcoin price (and every other PoW coin), is the cost of making them. the rest is speculation and everything else. How much did it cost to make one coin 5 years ago, today, and how much will it be in 10, 30, 50 years time? PoS is what a bunch of people belief it is worth, total rubbish. One of the most import-end things (and another half a dozen others) of any coin is its hashrate, it is like the heart of it. .

PoW, just like PoS, finds its value only on community's concensus. The hashrate follows the price, it's not the opposite. If speculators decided to cash-out their cryptos for some reason, the price could very well drop to 100$, and difficulty would adapt so producing a coin at that price would still be profitable. All means of exchange through history were based on what people believed it to be worth, and nothing else. People in the middle-ages didn't care about the production cost of gold, only the mining companies did.

If we were to implement merge-mining with Litecoin, would it slow down our block reward so it would be equal to LTC's 2.5 minutes?
