Please stop with the race against LTC.
Why? Only one of them will survive and will be kept long term by miners, the other one will be dumped to cover the cost of ASICs and electricity. It's a race between them now to be one or the other. There is no room for 2 Scrypt coins. I am just stating my observations, why are you so afraid of that? One can argue that there is no room for more than one crypto. And please don't even think of..... I am indeed afraid. Of a new hype that is born out of mining reasons. I would love to see doge gaining because of the events like in January - February rater than on accounts of mining. Because mining will soon be over and what will remain? When I said it will be over it will mean that reward will be negligible

Mining will not be over, who said such a preposterous thing? But it's very likely that it will be more and more centralized like in Bitcoin.

As I said in my edit , the miners will soon receive a reward that is less and less in % compared to the total supply. Meaning that the impact of mining on the coin price will be minimal. What will happen then? A price rise? Why? Because the coins are harder to get? There are a lot of examples who said this is not the case. What will doge build upon ? Usage and community of course. That's why I'm seeing this as a pump and something temporary and I'm no inclined to buy more but neither to sell.

Miners have to run those ASICs for Litecoins or any other scrypt coin and merge mine Doges without wasting any additional power. Even if block reward is 1 doge per block, the hashrate will from now on be equal or very close to hashrate of Litecoin. Network is secured. Doge excels in everything else. The Gresham law will make miners hodl rising Doge and sell depreciating Litecoin. Sure, this is a temporary pump, too fast and too violent, it will settle down somewhat and then resume. EDIT: Hashrate is 695 GH/s now, Litecoin's is 800-850, so getting very close.

The network is by no means secure. It relies one the profitability of other coins. If those turn to dust so does doge mining and the network security.

Like I said above, Doge excels in everything else, first of all, in driving demand for doges. Market cap is bound to go much higher. Of course, long term mining is getting to be a professional area, not an amateur pastime, and it will take efforts to keep it profitable. Anyway, we're talking too much, let's wait and see

Not surprising that if we get a market wide alt rally, DOGE will have been the one to lead it.

much wow, I was never much of a day trader (I basically suck at day-trading), but I was in DOGE-mood today because I bought a special physical doge coin last night, so I bought some digital DOGE earlier today, and placed a sell order at 91, it got executed, much fun

Thanks I'm telling you, I never day-trade, I suck at it. It was only because I was in such a jolly mood and had bitcoins left in my hotwallet (which I did not spend on the auction), so I send them the exchange instead of back to cold storage, when I heard about the merge mining. About the question: Not planning on re-buying, don't have the nerves to day trade, it is just not my thing
