Its working just fine for me; the pre-mined coins have been deleted and it restarted at block 0.  I deleted C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/Molecule before starting 0.8.10.2.

Its got to be a 51% thing where the people you are connected to are still using the stale data.

Yeah, the GUI display is showing 25k but the debug window shows the correct number.

Diff is over 1 now.

What are you people using for your mining settings by the way, I've never CPU mined before and would like to know so I don't burn my computer up.

setgenerate true 4

Use this in the console's debug window, but substitute your number of CPU cores where I have 4

Okay, so I do that, but then my mainboard starts beeping liking crazy. Any idea why?

I think I am on the fork. Isn't that the goal? THe 10.2 release deleted the premined data and restarted at block 0.

Edit: Current diff:

Type "getmininginfo" in the console.

Does this look like I'm on the correct chain? The GUI indicator is still trying to sync to 25k blocks, but I would thing the debug output is correct.

{
"blocks" : 737,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,

"generate" : false,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 0,
"pooledtx" : 0,

}

Haven't found any since the diff went over 1  Embarrassed

UPDATE: Please update to v0.8.10.2 using the links below.  The new build fixes a defect with the difficulty.

We are pleased to announce the release of Molecule on 14 December 2013.

Molecule is a CPU minable alt coin based on Quark, which was in turn based on SifCoin.  The coin uses a combination of algorithms that makes it resistant to GPU and ASIC mining.

The purpose of creating this coin was both for my own edification to learn about creating one, as well as to provide a coin with economics/coin design that I think works and provides a broader opportunity for folks to mine some coin.

Molecule will be backed by promotion and publicity efforts, with the intention of spreading awareness and growing a community.  Branding, Awareness, Community, and Marketing is what I believe will differentiate molecules from other coins.

About Molecules:

200,000,000 max molecules will be created
784 molecules per block
Reward halves every 120,960 blocks (~42 days)
30 second block targets
Low starting diff
Difficulty retargets every 20 blocks, max adj. 100% up/200% down
140 confirms per block
~2% premine

Port: 11879
Default RPC Port: 18474

How To Mine
Wallet
To mine with the wallet, you can either add a line to molecule.conf:

Code:
gen=1

Alternatively, open the debug console (Help -> Debug Window) and type setgenerate=true

Miner
To mine with a miner you need to ensure your molecule.conf file has settings for RPC, and then point your miner at the local rpc server.

Example molecule.conf:

Code:
listen=1
maxconnections=80
gen=0
genproclimit=-1
rpcuser=myuser
rpcpassword=mypassword
server=1
rpcport=11875

Example minerd command line:

Code:
minerd64_sse4.exe -q -a quark --url http://127.0.0.1:11875 -u myuser -p mypassword

Really excited to release this and hope you all have fun!  Looks like a few have already discovered it and are collecting Molecules.  Download the wallet and get some Molecules for yourself today while the difficulty is low!
