Only rumors, but I see that this can be real (unicorns taking over crypto).
This would popularize blockchain and crypto to a new level, I think we are not so far from that anymore.

It's more to do with using Blockchain for data security, than any actual imminent Cryptocurrency or ICO.

Don't you think it is weird that they banned anything related to crypto currencies from their platform saying that they are all "deceptive" and now they are trying to make their own? I guess those are just rumours as the article says those are unconfirmed information. Or it might have to do something with using the blockchain technology but not making crypto currencies.

Firstly they have banned ads because some scam ICOs and some services related to crypto were scams. But I do not believe they are trying to make their own crypto at this point. They could see to implement blockchain because of some reasons with how they think is better for their back-end system. Even if they lunch their coin I doubt that we will see it soon.

I'm not surprised, to be honest, this is the new technology and it is normal for a platform as Facebook to make their own coin in order to be ahead in the current market.
Nevertheless, the banning was related to the spamming and suspicious of ICO's activities, they didn't ban the complete world, but the suspicious ads (please tell me if I'm wrong on this point, for I do not own a Facebook account-I despise the platform- and my point is based on what I've read only).

Will Facebook seek a behavior similar to Steemit? Will they have their own currency in order to buy services on their platform? It hasn't confirmed yet. The only point confirmed at the time is the new Blockchain research committee in the Facebook industry.
Besides, if they want to stay at the top, they will need soon to join the Blockchain technology, as Telegram has already done: they've sold up their ICO, the GRAMCOIN and obtained a lot of money already.
If Facebook wants to stay alive, it will be needed for it to join the cryptopath.

Facebook needs to decide on which side is it. I believe it is wrong to have faith in blockchain but avoid the top blockchain projects. Banning ads for all cryptocurrencies wasn't a fair decision. Creating their own crypto - well, I believe this will be a big loss for facebook. Why? Because facebook is not secure enough for people to perform serious transactions through it and people of facebook are not used to spending money in the network (vk.com, for example, has the 'votes' you buy for fiat and then spend on virtual presents, fb is just not like that). Telegram might be successful, but even it cancelled ico in its own weird way.

It would be very unfair if this was to happen and they get away with it without any consequences because it would be an unfair advantage to them because they are now the biggest advertising company and would certainly make sure their products are the only ones being brought to the public.

If the whole thing isn't going to be decentralized then forget it. Centralized platforms creating their own Cryptocurrencies could set a bad precedence. They should probably stick with IPO & redeemable points.

Exactly. It is really hard for companies to build a blockchain platform, as they are centralized by definition. Unless they somehow incentivize their huge base of users to enter into some kind of PoW or PoS mining scheme, they will have to be centralized. And then, they are not really creating a cryptocurrency in the true sense of the word.

I am not sure what would be happen. But I think it is possible by Facebook to launch new crypto. And blockchain as well as crypto industry will go another level of interest. Thus market will be highly competitive and people will involved more in the industry.

Facebook is diving headfirst into the blockchain.
Recode reports the social media giant is creating a team dedicated to blockchain, headed by former Messenger lead David Marcus, who also has experience at Coinbase and PayPal. Marcus later confirmed this shift in a Facebook post.

Facebook is not blockchain friendly, if they are they wouldn't have block the advertisements from ICOs. They might only get interested in Blockchain if they need data of users blockchain.

It is very good for the progress and development of bitcoin in the future by justifying Blockchain technology and the number of investors will make a bitcoin price increase.

A good opinion and I like your opinion.
If only facebook friends be familiar with blockchain then I am sure both have a good future because both of them need each other so if both are complementary then there is no match.

I don't know the authenticity. We all know Facebook's friendship with government agencies (all adequate and interested people) and a transparent blockchain system well, in General, does not meet this requirement.

Facebook has an established reputation already and it could make a strong competitor to many cryptos if it only released its coin. I think this is very serious.

As for me, it's absolutely not strange. And I doubt that this news is just a rumor. Yes, Facebook has forbidden new information about ICOs and crypto-currencies under the pretext that they mislead users. But this does not contradict the fact that now Facebook wants to create its own crypto currency. All is quite logical: Facebook has removed competitors in order to quietly release their own product to the world.

Another thing is that Facebook is very close to the US government. And this solution can belong to them, and not the team of the social network. We all know that facebook collects information about its users. Imagine, what opportunities for this the blockchain will open?

Facebook has to move very carefully into to the blockchain and crypto space and differentiate what government would like and what would hate. For example, banning ICO ads must have been nothing but a smart strategic move.

There could be a change of decision based on new information. At the time of Facebook pronouncements of the ban, it was reigning ban everywhere. China, Korea,  India even the UK and the EU where singing similar tunes. So Facebook may have wanted to play safe by aligning to the part of ban.
Now it is apparent that crypto is not as bad as it was thought to be. So Facebook could make a u turn.

Nice.... but it’s just a buzzword. No different than adding .com to the end of a company name.

Blockchain without a crypto is basically a fancy database with a chain of evidence system. Will Facebook ever become decentralized? Not in your dreams.

Nice try, Zuck.

If there's anything I've come to noticed amongst the elite, is that they intentionally run down a wonderful package in order to float theirs. What stands out here isn't Bitcoin or ethereum but the technology. With the Blockchain technology, hardly is there any human challenges that can't be fixed.

Not all news coming from cointelegraph are real. I already read this articles but I have doubts if it is legit. The only way for us to find is if facebook will release an announcement about making their own blockchain. Few months ago, facebook banned all crypto related advertisement. Is it because they are against cryptocurrencies or is it because they are planning to make their own blockchain?

Yeah they didn't ban it completely. Most ico ads were removed but there are still some that managed to promote cryptos in form of giveaways.

Facebook is not blockchain friendly, if they are they wouldn't have block the advertisements from ICOs. They might only get interested in Blockchain if they need data of users blockchain.
It's only right to ban ICO ads because it could easily trick innocent users in to investing and expecting to make a profit from this which is not guarantee to happen. People can still promote ICOs in facebook by posting or making their own page and share posts. The same thing is happening here in the forum theymos doesn't allow any form of altcoin ads (the slot after the first post) but still allows altcoin to be promoted in other forms like bounty/signature campaigns.

actually the fact that they banned everything else proves that they are in fact working on it for real. and there are enough trusted sources out there reporting this that you can believe it. besides it is not really a weird thing to look into blockchain technology, many big companies have been doing it for some time now. they all see the potential one way or another (from the technology itself or the ICO fund raising scam)

I don't see how a blockchain or a crypto currency could be useful for facebook.
Facebook is all about control and centralization. The users are the product.
I just thing that Zuckerberg tries to jump on the hype bandwagon, but nothing really useful or from benefit will be made for the users.
If they indeed should launch a "crypto currency" I believe it's going to be more something like a gift certificate program.

What ? i thought facebook banned cryptocurrency from their social media.
So they banned other crypto because they want to create they own cryptocurrency. Interesting.

Once facebook accepted the blockchain, it would be spread easily and become popular to everyone.

Facebook and other companies will probably use blockchain technology and even create their own coins but now they start their coin for what? I don't think they start a ico for that.

Yeah! that is true and not a hoax or just an new information that is trying to cover up fb in the recent scandals.
But as i read the story about that, they have no plan to generate a token or start and ICo. It seems that they will use the blockchain technology to run more of its recent services rather than creating a new product or services. If that is the case then, people will have no chance to invest in the blockchain technology fb is investigating. Additionally, based from the news the blockhain team is just small and it is not expected to develop what it is intended this current year.

Of course it comes to ridiculous! I remember recently Soros said that bitcoin and the entire crypto market is a complete nonsense and a bubble that it is not worth investing .... and at the beginning of this year began to invest huge money in a crypto world! the same thing is obtained by Facebook, only recently facebook and tweeter shouted that they prohibit advertising and promotion of the crypto world ... and now the rumor about the creation of a new coinface Facebook has already passed! Facebook is planning to get on iso !!!! class, begin to quietly give up all haters crypt!))))

Blockchain is a superior technology, it is much safer, tamper proof and efficient compare to the World Wide Web. In this regard, almost all business and organizations will gradually use or embrace blockchain technology to carry out their routine activities. I believe this is a good thing and will change the entire idea of centralization. Though complete decentralization would be hard to imagine due to practical issues, and government regulations. I believe their would be some sort of a quasi decentralization in almost all future businesses and services. So Facebook would undoubtedly use this technology and may be their own cryptocurrency. Then things would really pace up!

i wonder if they going to hold an ICO for collecting money from peoples, although they has banned crypto ads.

Who knows if they're actually going to be doing something like this, or they're just trying to make some media hype to drive some attention to their company, their platform, and their stock price. It's a pretty understandable option if they're trying to hide out the whole cambridge analytics scandal they went, and are going through right now.

I don't see a need for them to have a crypto anyway, this article seems a TAD fishy on how it explains everything too. Unconfirmed sources aren't my thing.s

If Facebook wants to stay alive, it will be needed for it to join the cryptopath.

facebook and tweeter shouted that they prohibit advertising and promotion of the crypto world and now the rumor about the creation of a new coinface Facebook has already passed. based from the news the blockhain team is just small and it is not expected to develop what it is intended this current year.

Facebook is not blockchain friendly, if they are they wouldn't have block the advertisements from ICOs. They might only get interested in Blockchain if they need data of users blockchain.

Facebook has to move very carefully into to the blockchain and crypto space and differentiate what government would like and what would hate. For example, banning ICO ads must have been nothing but a smart strategic move.

If Facebook will really to join Crypto currency investment by creating their own coin then this banning will just a marketing strategy because Facebook has millions of users in which they will use these users for their own advantage to support their own created coin but that if this news is for real because i believed  Facebook will not join Crypto currencies investment. We will just wait and see.

Yeah I also find this kinda strange. But who knows? Cryptos are on the rise now and there`re more and more big players entering the market so I won`t be so surpsrised if one day Zuckerberg announces that the day has come and FB launches its own crypto. People will be very interested because this social network proved to be one of the leading companies in the industry.  Wink

Here is a link to possible outcome of what facebook could mean by their statement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3863612.new#new

No matter what facebook is planning I know definitely it is gonna be for the benefit of the Blockchain technology.  take a look at facebook history, any company they get involved with becomes a success, talk more of new idea or developments. So I'm in support of their move.

Blockchain is a distributed ledger with data stored across a network of computers and rules that are enforced by its many participants.
It's the opposite of Facebook, which is a massive centralized organization that controls all the infrastructure underlying the 2 billion global users on its proprietary social network.

Imagine a vast online network in the future where we all hang out, chat and buy things,
but that's not owned by Facebook or Google or Amazon. That's the promise some people see in blockchain.

Blockchain technology is greater than Facebook, Google and them lot. Blockchain is for the people. Some of the companies are trying to monopolize the market like they have done with the centralized system and control everything here too. They fear what Blockchain technology will do to their businesses if we all adopt it. That is why there are trying to use their resources to ban it and spread fake news

Facebook has been trying to fight with cryptocurrencies (banning ads related to crypto for example), but we all know that they have been researching Blockchain and Bitcoin for the whole time. Blockchain is the next great technology which will be demanded. I am afraid that they might release their own crypto which would be centralised and not anonymous at all. I guess that many investors would be interested in cryptocurrency which was created by one of the most valuable companies in the world. I'm curious what other companies like Apple and Microsoft will do.

If they indeed should launch a "crypto currency" I believe it's going to be more something like a gift certificate program.

I wonder what would happen if Facebook created its own mining platform (like Bitcoin Core) and connected all those 2 billion+ devices to it?
Would these tokens still be a kind of a "gift"?
I'm sure their price would reach the sky in the very first days since they could be used for so many various kinds of payment within the FB network - advertising, gaming, social analytics, etc.

I am little bit confused with your news and even doubt on this news because I read somewhere that first Facebook and then Twitter banned crypto ads on their pages and now google is the most loyal kelt to be the next and now according to your news , Facebook is launching its own block chain, I don’t understand this kind of strategy that first Facebook was against of crypto currencies and now Facebook itself launching its block chain, I think that this is a ki Nd of scam.

Facebook is the easiest way to spread some news all over the world. In digital business many companies using Facebook as their main marketing source. Unlike any other coin bitcoin is spreading much more through blockchain system. It is now very much popular in the digital world. Bitcoin must not be mixed with these but it should take those to a new and better foundation.

Let's understand that the blockchain technology is meant to be used everywhere in our life processes; data, healthcare, AI, education, business, finance, transport, communication and the rest. So, Facebook adopting the blockchain technology in its operations is a step into the future of having seamless operations; a bid to improve on what they have. So, its synonymous to companies making use of internet in their mode of business.

I am not surprised to hear this news, I already know how much traders manipulate bitcoin prices by spreading negative news about bitcoin. if that's the case, why facebook itself prohibits news or advertisements about ICO itself, and now facebook will instead launch its own virtual coin in the app. funny as it sounds.

Facebook is against crypto currency advetisements as of now and they are not against crypto currency, may be the news is true or false but time would say whether this is correct because each and every institution is adopting block chain and crypto everyday and even banks have started adopting to block chain technology. So, soon Facebook and other social media would definitely adopt blockchain technology for safety and security of their data privacy.

I've read that FB is going to introduce its own cryptocurrency as well as Telegram, this will simplify the payments in these networks.

I've read that FB is going to introduce its own cryptocurrency as well as Telegram, this will simplify the payments in these networks.

Telegram also wants to raise funds for development and they may go the ICO route. Facebook is well capitalized, has a steady stream of revenue and also raised money through an ICO. Advertisers pay Facebook through fiat and there is no reason for Facebook to launch its own currency. Facebook has no reason to allow payment between users on its network.

It can deal with a coin instead of producing. I think it makes more sense to me. One of the big giants in the market will already see this business. The worst is what can make an arrangement for WhatsApp.

It is funny how a few months back they are blocking all crypto related ads and now they've built an internal team that would work closely in exploring blockchain technology. Nevertheless, if this pushes through it will be a good help with the blockchain industry.

Facebook's move into Blockchain will bring new credibility to the cryptocurrency industry. While Facebook will not necessarily create its own cryptocurrency, the company may find new uses for Blockchain technology, such as data warehouse encryption.

they don't have to do an ICO but I think if they release it for even $5 each a lot of us will buy. The questions would be what is the token for and its usefulness in the social media site? If it can be use to accept the adverts then maybe. If its going to be used by massively it can probably be worth a $100+. Everything will blow up too even the verge Smiley

Blockchain really has the potential to change the way we handle security and what more if we can use it to change the way we handle money? Bitcoin will be at the forefront of future transactions and this article is proof that we are heading in the right direction.

We work through our various types of Facebook online activities, we have to remove Facebook very carefully and what the government wants and what we hate will be different. For example, there should be nothing without a smart strategic step that should prohibit ICO advertising.

This news is real and not just the rumor or banning of any crypto ads on their platforms does make a lot of sense because first you can eliminate your competitors instead of trying to become a sustainable monopolist. Cool
If from the facebook seriously want to make a coin and wallet technology itself then it will enliven the list of other crypto currency. We know facebook is the largest social media company in the world that much in demand of all circles. Hope it can come true. Cool

Facebook is launching a new team dedicated to the blockchain. The move is noteworthy for a couple of reasons:
As the former president of PayPal, Marcus has a lot of payments expertise and has been in charge of Messenger through a lot of significant changes over the years. In fact, Facebook’s decision to split Messenger out of the core app so that users had to download the standalone app in order to receive messages on mobile happened during Marcus’s first month on the job. He oversaw Messenger’s push into customer service bots, shopping and, more recently, advertising. His departure from that role is notable, especially since Messenger is just starting to ramp up its advertising business.
The blockchain, which serves as the technical foundation for all cryptocurrencies — like bitcoin — is all the rage. Facebook’s decision to pursue blockchain technology will most certainly add some validity to the crypto industry, which has been very chaotic. This doesn’t mean that Facebook will build its own cryptocurrency, but there are many ways that blockchain technology could be used that have nothing to do with cryptocurrencies, including encrypted data storage. Marcus does have a personal interest in cryptocurrencies, though. He joined the board of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in December.

All business in cryptocurrency is in blockchain everyone links to other. New invester is linked with older, and some amount of profit is shared to old invester. Facebook is mainly used for publishing news of cryptocurrency. Some of business is also done via Facebook.

Cryptocurrency has been in the world for a long time just people are not aware and after Bitcoin appeared to be traded in 2009 then all aware of its importance Blockchain.

Facebook is also just like that, they are not yet aware of what it is its function of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. When I realized maybe I just drink coffee while laughing. LOL

I believe blockchain is also being used by instant messaging apps? But whether Facebook is using it for security or as a features enhancement, all these applications are supporting the fact that blockchain will be the foundation of most, if not all, digital platforms of the future. That’s why we believe in crypto success in the future too –because it’s backed up by a fast, secure and transparent foundation.

After months of Facebook-bashing over the Cambridge Analytica scandal - and with the expansion of Facebook's failure in terms of data protection and accountability - the company may have used some respite. A few days of speculation leaks about how Facebook can use blockchain will give that up.
But while the related psychological-mindfuck problems that are taking place on both sides of the Atlantic may have played a role in the launch, Facebook is always bound to experiment in blockchaining at some point. In part, that's because everyone in Silicon Valley is the same. Amazon, Google and Microsoft recently launched several projects involving blockchain technology; even Apple, in 2017, filed a patent which indicated its interest in a distributed ledger

Fear of fraudulent, multi-level fraud and terrorist financing activities through Bitcoin and other pre-encrypted types Facebook issued a ban on advertisements related to encryption but later changed them. His book and allowing ads related to coding to be displayed back on social networks could be a good sign for the crypto market.

The good news comes from the signal of Mark Zuckerberg who is studying cryprocurrency. It's possible that Facebook will make Altcoin, which means being part of the crypto world. But I think that blockchain technology will be first applied by Facebook, because it is related to data efficiency and security.

yes, unicorns dare to lose just to get the market, they don't need small amounts of money, they really want large amounts of money
In business theory, the technique used by Unicorns is very risky, but when successful, the big profits can be very easily achieved, Facebook like it is also fighting over the crypto market, because they must also see a good future for this crypto market.

By June 2017, Facebook had reached 2 billion active users every month and it still grew at 16% per year. Most of their revenue, like Google, comes from advertising, with about 86% of revenue coming from mobile device users. This model has matured. We have seen decentralized alternatives for Facebook and other social media platforms. The Blockchain-based social media platform incorporates parts of Facebook and Reddit and has an original token named SteemUSD.

It is enticing to imagine that, with the dispatch of its blockchain inquire about gathering – helmed by recent head of Messenger David Marcus – Facebook pulled a dead feline proceed onward us.
Following quite a while of Facebook-bashing over the Cambridge Analytica outrage—and by augmentation over Facebook's failings as far as information assurance and responsibility – the organization may have utilized some rest. A couple of long stretches of muddled theories on how Facebook could utilize a blockchain would have given recently that.

Bitcoin is very popular and very successful crypto currency and there are many factors behind the success of bitcoin but still there are many people , companies and even many large organisations are in against of bitcoin, and Facebook is one of them, as I heard the news that Facebook has banned crypto ads resulting in the deflation of stocks of Facebook and then the same thing has happened with Twitter also so the moral of the story is those who are not supporting bitcoin are definitely going to regret in the future.

Blockchain has very wide area of possible use cases that is why even large companies like facebook are trying to use it as a way to improve their service or create a new service from it. We can also expect that development from this companies are much different compared to other crypto projects out there.

facebook imposed banning on some ICO is as a result of some suspicious ICO with the aim of defrauding people who want to invest. however if facebook is planning to have its own Coin,it should be made available to the public as well.

If the whole thing isn't going to be decentralized then forget it. Centralized platforms creating their own Cryptocurrencies could set a bad precedence. They should probably stick with IPO & redeemable points.

Blockchain and cryptocurrencies are not a technology that can be used everywhere. Blockchain is a niche technology, somewhere it can be useful, and somewhere it is useless. Recently, there are many projects that use the blockchain, but in many of them the blockchain is useless or not needed at all. Blockchain is a revolutionary technology, but it will benefit humanity by being used only for its intended purpose, not everywhere. So I want to ask the question: "does facebook need its own cryptocurrency? Will people use this new cryptocurrency?". If this new cryptocurrency turns out to be unnecessary to people, then it will not bring any benefit to the crypto community.

This is more about DLT, blockchain and security, not much about crypto, i guess. Eventually all big companies will adapt the Blockchain, no wonder.

do you think Blockchain and facebook be partner in the future
Blockchain is an open source so there's no need for it to be partnered by every company. Why? because everyone is free to use it as they wish and there's no more verification or confirmation for them to be partnered. Facebook is looking at it so the possibility is high and there are even rumors who are guessing that they will create their own token. This is just a rumor but facebook starts using blockchain is a great news if it comes out.
