Only rumors, but I see that this can be real (unicorns taking over crypto).
This would popularize blockchain and crypto to a new level, I think we are not so far from that anymore.

It's more to do with using Blockchain for data security, than any actual imminent Cryptocurrency or ICO.

Don't you think it is weird that they banned anything related to crypto currencies from their platform saying that they are all "deceptive" and now they are trying to make their own? I guess those are just rumours as the article says those are unconfirmed information. Or it might have to do something with using the blockchain technology but not making crypto currencies.

Firstly they have banned ads because some scam ICOs and some services related to crypto were scams. But I do not believe they are trying to make their own crypto at this point. They could see to implement blockchain because of some reasons with how they think is better for their back-end system. Even if they lunch their coin I doubt that we will see it soon.

I'm not surprised, to be honest, this is the new technology and it is normal for a platform as Facebook to make their own coin in order to be ahead in the current market.
Nevertheless, the banning was related to the spamming and suspicious of ICO's activities, they didn't ban the complete world, but the suspicious ads (please tell me if I'm wrong on this point, for I do not own a Facebook account-I despise the platform- and my point is based on what I've read only).

Will Facebook seek a behavior similar to Steemit? Will they have their own currency in order to buy services on their platform? It hasn't confirmed yet. The only point confirmed at the time is the new Blockchain research committee in the Facebook industry.
Besides, if they want to stay at the top, they will need soon to join the Blockchain technology, as Telegram has already done: they've sold up their ICO, the GRAMCOIN and obtained a lot of money already.
If Facebook wants to stay alive, it will be needed for it to join the cryptopath.

Facebook needs to decide on which side is it. I believe it is wrong to have faith in blockchain but avoid the top blockchain projects. Banning ads for all cryptocurrencies wasn't a fair decision. Creating their own crypto - well, I believe this will be a big loss for facebook. Why? Because facebook is not secure enough for people to perform serious transactions through it and people of facebook are not used to spending money in the network (vk.com, for example, has the 'votes' you buy for fiat and then spend on virtual presents, fb is just not like that). Telegram might be successful, but even it cancelled ico in its own weird way.

It would be very unfair if this was to happen and they get away with it without any consequences because it would be an unfair advantage to them because they are now the biggest advertising company and would certainly make sure their products are the only ones being brought to the public.

If the whole thing isn't going to be decentralized then forget it. Centralized platforms creating their own Cryptocurrencies could set a bad precedence. They should probably stick with IPO & redeemable points.

Exactly. It is really hard for companies to build a blockchain platform, as they are centralized by definition. Unless they somehow incentivize their huge base of users to enter into some kind of PoW or PoS mining scheme, they will have to be centralized. And then, they are not really creating a cryptocurrency in the true sense of the word.

I am not sure what would be happen. But I think it is possible by Facebook to launch new crypto. And blockchain as well as crypto industry will go another level of interest. Thus market will be highly competitive and people will involved more in the industry.

Facebook is diving headfirst into the blockchain.
Recode reports the social media giant is creating a team dedicated to blockchain, headed by former Messenger lead David Marcus, who also has experience at Coinbase and PayPal. Marcus later confirmed this shift in a Facebook post.

Facebook is not blockchain friendly, if they are they wouldn't have block the advertisements from ICOs. They might only get interested in Blockchain if they need data of users blockchain.

It is very good for the progress and development of bitcoin in the future by justifying Blockchain technology and the number of investors will make a bitcoin price increase.

A good opinion and I like your opinion.
If only facebook friends be familiar with blockchain then I am sure both have a good future because both of them need each other so if both are complementary then there is no match.

Only rumors, but I see that this can be real (unicorns taking over crypto).
This would popularize blockchain and crypto to a new level, I think we are not so far from that anymore.

I don't know the authenticity. We all know Facebook's friendship with government agencies (all adequate and interested people) and a transparent blockchain system well, in General, does not meet this requirement.

Facebook has an established reputation already and it could make a strong competitor to many cryptos if it only released its coin. I think this is very serious.

As for me, it's absolutely not strange. And I doubt that this news is just a rumor. Yes, Facebook has forbidden new information about ICOs and crypto-currencies under the pretext that they mislead users. But this does not contradict the fact that now Facebook wants to create its own crypto currency. All is quite logical: Facebook has removed competitors in order to quietly release their own product to the world.

Another thing is that Facebook is very close to the US government. And this solution can belong to them, and not the team of the social network. We all know that facebook collects information about its users. Imagine, what opportunities for this the blockchain will open?

Facebook has to move very carefully into to the blockchain and crypto space and differentiate what government would like and what would hate. For example, banning ICO ads must have been nothing but a smart strategic move.

There could be a change of decision based on new information. At the time of Facebook pronouncements of the ban, it was reigning ban everywhere. China, Korea,  India even the UK and the EU where singing similar tunes. So Facebook may have wanted to play safe by aligning to the part of ban.
Now it is apparent that crypto is not as bad as it was thought to be. So Facebook could make a u turn.
