I would assume he has not or simply put he is not of a technically proficient level to understand how a ledger can be secured through crytography and exchanges can be anywhere in the world.

He mentions loss for retailers. All money in the US if excepted and received could easily be moved to a coinbase wallet and immediatly transfered to a bank account at current price resulting in no loss at all. If they choose to hang on to Bitcoin, then they accept the risk and only have themselves to really blame which is comes with owning a buisiness in todays economy anyways.

There is speculation that the professor was paid to say what he did. This speculation is based on his demeanor during his speech. He didn’t seem all to calm and actually appeared nervous during his prediction as if he was all too confident.
