Those are the best movies that have been out this year in my opinion...
I really need to see Wolf Of Wall Street. All I ever hear is good things about it!  It's so good. People either love it or hate it, but I loved it. That one guy from Superbad (I foget his name), took 60k as his pay just to be in the movie because scorsese was directing Wasn't aware of that, but I was surprised he was even cast in this. Does he actually play a character other than Jonah Hill in it though?  I like him as a comedic actor, but I'm sceptical of his talents as a serious dramatic actor, but I love to be proved wrong. |

It deals with racism but as a film, it's very safe and almost feels like Oscar bait. I've liked Steve McQueen's other films (Hunger, Shame) much more than this one. |

You have to remember that the winner of the Oscar's usually has some politics also behind it... i.e. Halle Barry winning best actress a few years back, and Argo winning best picture (while Affleck was not even nominated for best director). On another note...here is another good one "End of Watch" Not brand new, but if you guys haven't seen it, rent it or buy it...it is well worth it! |

The strangers was pretty scary. Been out for awhile.
If you guys can get ahold of the documentary "bloodlines" you should check it out. It was pretty much banned everywhere, but super interesting

If you liked Training Day I thought Brooklyn's Finest was pretty similar in style and a solid movie, also has Ethan Hawk I'm pretty sure Brooklyn's Finest was also written by a cop (and first-time screenwriter). Looks like cops have some life stories that translate well to the screen... Michael Mann was a cop too before turning to directing. |
