All altcoins are risky. Get a mix of many.

Don't forget to buy some Globe. The only currency to be backed by BTC, have price stabilization mechanisms and fast but secure transaction times. (PM if you want some Globes) or view the exchange https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362297.0

What is the debate over? Buy 5k in each and be done.

^^ This.

Forcing yourself into binary decisions when you have infinite options is a mistake from the start.

DOGE will die once the joke is no longer funny.  What serious devs are going to be putting work into it and building infrastructure ?

On the flipside, coins aren't wholly reliant on the devs of the coin. They're a decentralised currency; the community has adopted Dogecoin in spite of any major developer support. The community would need to pick up some of the slack, but people are mining the coin, and selling the coin. It looks like the community is doing the work themselves.

A decentralised currency doesn't have to rely so strongly on the devs. Not if the community support is overwhelming.

I would probably put half in bitcoin and half in Quark.
Quark is a rising star and will eventually shine as one the brightest.

Why not invest 9k across a few major coins, then use the final 1k and spread it across 10 long-shot scrypt coins?

Gotta diversify your portfolio, brah.

Simple. Worldcoin.

Worldcoin is a good bet, after that I'm not sure. I would certainly call it very foolish to see doge as more tham this month's joke that went right.

Spending any non-trivial amount of money on any altcoin except Litecoin is absolutely certifiably insane.

I agree 100%, but there are 2 kinds of support.  THere are the guys going DOGGY DOGGY all over and then there are devs creating services which is what gives a coin longterm value. Memes have a shelf life though.  Kids are taken in by cool things, and nothing can be cool for long.  I mean if you were specifically targeting memekiddy money, then yea, develop for doge.  Otherwise I fail to see anything here.

Again I may 100% be wrong.  "4chan is behind it" etc etc.  Wait until the next 'inside crowd/cool kid' joke goes on.  Guys stuck with coins 10% of the value they paid.

I think a lot of us disagrees completely. A lot of alt coin has major improvements over Litecoin.

Thanks everyone....

Dogecoin was officially Hacked today, glad I didn't invest there.
My Quark investment made me 1.5X my $$ already.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Now that it's gone up to .16 cents, i'm ready to invest another $10k.

Not sure if it should be more Quark, or perhaps some Earthcoin, and Maybe some Zetacoin. Not too sure about the real new ones like Lottocoin or Catcoin though.
Does not seem to have much new purpose.
Any thoughts folks?

Why does Bitrebel have 65+ Ignores?
Because Bitrebel says things that some people do not want YOU to hear.

Why not look into one of the established proof of stake coins like YACoin, Peercoin and Novacoin, that actually provide something more than a marketing gimmick?

How do you know quark has reached 16 cents? Maximum I saw was at 12 today, where do you look?
