Just so everyone knows AMD's GDDR 6 GPU's are scheduled to be out in Q3/4 2014 which will render these ASICs useless. GDDR6 has twice the bandwidth of GDDR5 and not to mention the shader increases in the cards. We will be seeing $500 cards @ 2mh/s each or even more.. at that time. I believe Alpha T's scrypt ASIC is real, but it will be no contest for the GPU's that get released in 2014

That's interesting news.  From my calculations (as crappy as they are), at current hashrates these ASIC's are a win.  But when these new cards come out, Alpha-T is going to have to drop prices big time.  The real win with the ASICS's though is less power consumption.  Those AMD cards are going to pull about 600W most likely, while Alpha-T's 25Mhs beast is less then 600W.  Have to figure in the cost of power.

As for the company itself, I believe it's real.   Everything I've read seems legit.  They're basically putting a ton of FPGA's ( http://www.xilinx.com/products/silicon-devices/fpga/virtex-7/ ) unto boards.  Nothing stopping anyone from contacting Xilinx themselves and buying up some FPGA dev boards, but they're pricey. 

and FYI, I have nothing to do with any of those companies, just been following their twitter posts and doing a bit of research.  I'm planning on getting the 5Mhs miner, unless those AMD cards come out before then..

Lol Im local and know the area well so decided to pay them a visit....there was no one there and the office is a dingy shop front...I know that there was a dodgy international college here a while back who ran scams for students for visas etc so could be the same people trying there hand in cryptos?

Maybe these guys will turn out to be legit but something doesnt smell right to me.....

PS I'll be going past in the next few days a few times so will get a snap of the shopfront in its finest glory...the heavy rain over last few days seems to have taken its toll on the guttering

They didn't really put a lot into it if it's a scam.  A few posts on twitter, a shop front sign, and a shitty website.  They just announced the pre-orders btw, and as expected, their website is down.  This is probably the third time it's happened.  Doesn't give a whole lot of good feeling....

Also, apparently this was a family business that was an accounting company or something... pretty nice re-branding...

i recently lost hope, that there soon will be scrypt asics. after digging deeper of those 3-5 companys, the all seemed fishy to me.

The office space indeed looks a bit dodgy but of course this is the "bricks and mortar" portion in the UK...I cant really blame Alpha for not spending a ton of overhead in a high end area to properly register.

The most critical aspect of the development is the technology which is obviously in India. Dexcel certainly appears legit. As already mentioned in this thread, I think it's important to carefully consider the DATA that Alpha and Dexcel have produced to date, two parts in particular 1) proof of concept publication and 2) prototype video.

I am not capable of peer-reviewing Dexcel's concept paper, "Implementation and Analysis of Scrypt Algorithm in FPGA (Proof of concept)" (link below) but for those who have read and understand it, is the physics, math and code feasible? And as for the video, I did not quite understand what the dude was showing on the screenshot. Is anyone familiar enough with hardware to comment on the board and setup?

I guess what I'm getting at is can anyone explain or comment on the feasibility of these two bits of data?

Are there any good threads worth reading about actual Scrypt ASICs?  I read most of the thread from jasinlee (maybe spelled wrong - sorry) about his very amazing experiment with creating a Scrypt FPGA and his findings did not sound very positive to me... then a few months later someone has developed a Scrypt ASIC?  Yeah, sounds like they took this guys information and ran with it to create a scam.  Maybe next year they deliver an ASIC and it is indeed amazing, but no one gets their ROI except this company.  That is reason enough for me to stay far, far away from this.

The 64 address is the accounting firm next door owned by the family. 66 is the new Alpha store front also owned by them. The father and the son's share the same first and last names, but different middle names. One son and father are accountants, while the other son is an electrical engineer. The father was born in 1948, hence the guy in the news article you are presenting is NOT him, nor is it one of his sons! Just to get that straight.

I also wonder if their final product (if it comes true) will be an actual ASIC or just an FPGA.
