Possible spambots "hey, i am fresh here"

I don't know whether these are just users copying and pasting stuff or spam bots, but I've seen a few users posting almost exclusively the same "hey, i am fresh here" over and over or copying and pasting the entire page as a comment. Here's a few;

Also, they all registered around the same time: 26/27th. All active today.  fS44Et8 especially spamming the same old thing.

The above users seem to be often copying and pasting the entire content of messages and/or threads (including activity and post count etc). Not sure if they're bots, but more probably are just users trying to bolster their post-count, but either way they're spamming.

This bitslovers23 user keeps on posting links to a fake Washington post site that tries to instal crap on your comp. They've done it a few times now, but the threads and message contenting keep changing to "...". Don't know it a mod is zapping them or what.

I have a message board of my own that got hit by spam bots, and to solve it, we ended up having discovered the source countries from where the spam was coming from, so we banned those countries, and voila, no more spam. lol. Yeah, it was at the expense of potentially banning some potentially new legit users from those 'banned' countries... but the board was a lot better off without the spam. The people who registered from those "banned" countries had to be manually approved by a moderator or administrator, so we got all the 'legit' users.

tl;dr: Ban countries that spam from registering, by sending them to a "moderating" queue, and manually approve users that mods think are legit. This quickly weeds/purges out the fake accounts.

For these kind of cases, would it be more efficient to use the "report to mod" function? Or maybe make a PM to you badbear directly?

Yah. Likely they will be used for sigmature payments later after they reach a good level (of course if they aren't banned)
