It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Several people have mentioned the huge supply of TIPS and the ease of mining them is behind the price drop.  It's also important to mention that there's  very little demand as the coin is new and unknown.   Even so, the reality is even if we increase demand we are still going to have a HUGE supply-- now way around that.

Lowering the total amount of coins and/or adjusting the difficulty has been mentioned as a solution.  It seemed that the suggestion was dismissed before, but I think these ideas should be revisited.  TIPS has been active for a short time and it has the 4th largest supply of all coins listed on Coinmarketcap!  That's crazy! The large total number of coins just makes each individual coin worth less, and with so many TIPS being mined everyday, market demand will never rise to levels near the supply. This will keep the price from ever coming back up.

Has anyone ever made changes to the total coin number or difficulty after the coin was launched?  I've laid out some advantages to making changes (decrease supply and work to increase demand) but what would the argument against it be?  Are there issues with making these changes that I'm overlooking or naive to?

It seems to me that there are two mindsets/perspectives; the miner and the investor.  The miners amass large amounts of coins by putting their computer to work whereas investors want to put their money to work.  I can see how miners would feel like making huge amounts of coins in a short time is exciting. But the AMOUNT doesn't mean much if the coin is worth 0.000000000!

I agree with you Fozy but we really miss some dev action here.

Seems he took over to just leave it alone.

And that's why a lot of miners just dump everything they got once it hits the first exchange platform.
I've hold because I believed it could get bigger, and just kept a good amount as investment, but I should have dump everything at 17 LTC satoshi when it was still possible.

Too bad, this coin had some potential.

Except if ... ?

And a third

A tip of the hat to you all.

Who thinks an android wallet might also help this coin gain some momentum?

Maybe we should pool some funds together as a bounty, I am willing to TIP 2 mil to see an android wallet, who else and how can we make this happen?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Price going so high we crash the exchanges Smiley

I will contribute 2m TIPS for an Android Wallet bounty.

Another 2mil donation for bounty here... Cool

I'm also in for 2mil.

Well, that's 6m TIPS to help develop an Android App!

Actually, with that last prospective donation it is at 8 mil TIPs for an android app.
The dev also has a 500k TIPS bounty for the App.

I have contacted him to see if he can add our contributions to the post.

So to recap

CALLING ALL ANDROID DEVELOPERS - 8.5 mil TIPS for an android wallet, don't be shy

8.5m for an android wallet when you can currently farm 7m per day with a single 280x ?
If this can make this coin come back a little, I'm willing to give 5m.
Where do I send ? dev wallet ? one of those two ?

i agree totaly with you Fozy, there are just too many coins out there, and supply will always be much bigger then demand.. If it gets to another exchange it maybe can raise a price a little on short term but even
then that will raise number of miners, and increase dumping and it will become dead in 2-3 days again. Some changes must be made to keep this coin alive

+3million TIPS from me for that bounty pool for android app (i am new here don't know how it's done or where to send, just explain to me)

Alright I am still awaiting a reply from the dev about where we can send these, I am still a bit new here too just felt we needed to get a bounty going.

So at the moment it is at, assuming everyone who has posted is serious....

21.5 Mil TIPs as a bounty for an android wallet

I would make an address for us all to send to to ensure the bounty as of now but i have seen how those ideas are taken from jr members without any private trades so until then we wait on Dev.

I really think a wallet will help, having TIPS handheld is a necessity.

I've actually started the port process of bitcoinj, and I've slapped in most of the network constants. However, trying to compile it on maven doesn't seem to work out.
Freshly forked off of DogecoinJ, which ironically doesn't properly compile either. That being said, high chance that I'm the one at error so I'm not in a position to blame and point fingers.

Free for anyone to try and fix my abomination of a port job. Tongue

I will contribute 4.5 million tips to bring the wallet reward to 25 million.

This coin is so underrated, quite allot of work is being done on it.

Plus i think this is a long term investment coin, the block rewards half to 2,500,000 at 100000 blocks.

Darkcoin, the only fungible crypto currency.
