After january, chinese will be out of the game so prices will likely drop very much.
The price dropped 50% when china released some news about banning exchanges.
What do you think will happen when it actually comes into effect? I think we might be seeing 100-200 dollars.
Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

You don't need to base yourself on speculations, you just need to see the market cap for each coin. So far, more and more business and retails are accepting Bitcoin. Furthermore, overstock.com will accept Bitcoin very soon, this is major. Forget the Chinese, they will regret it soon enough.

And what makes you think so? The price droped and it came back up again.
I don't see why it should be a massive drop in all coins when the annouce is already done and the prices have already go down. It will surely drop but not like what happened in december.

I thought the Chinese had found a way to get around depositing money in exchnages via vouchers or something, or are they now banning them all together now?

Well, supposedly a lot of investors will be coming on board next year and the network effect will help spread awareness so the chance of the price coming down is low. A crash at this state would not dip the price below a certain point as when it does a lot of people who missed the train this year will be trying to get into the game buying up those cheap coins. So, we'll have to see.

Well, speculating price drops at end of January because of China is just gamble. Might happen, but you may buy at higher price back as well.

I welcome pricedrops, it's an opportunity to buy low. What's killing me is when price moves sideways like it has for the last week or so.

I believe bitcoin give a very big jump in 2014, even with the news of China abandoning ship. I believe that 2014 will be a year in which much know about bitcoin. I think it's time to take and who is more conservative store for the next events.
