Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

SHA-256? No thanks! But I am sure you will attract some kids with their ASICs.
It doesn't add anything to what we already have but at least the block reward is lower at launch

SHA-256...seems interesting! I've had enough of these daily scrypts-scams. Will see how it goes

We're giving it a try! Why not?  Wink

Also we've been working on a scrypt-based coin in the background for some time now but it's not yet ready as we put our efforts on this one for now. You will hear about it eventually Grin

Thanks for the logo !

Teamunicoin, could you please tell us in advance how to write the .conf file for solo-mining so that we will be ready for time X ?

One more question just to be clear: in the announcement you said "January the 1st @ Midinight GMT-5", do you mean the midnight between December 31st and January the 1st, right ? (I'm asking this because - being fiscal - Midnight could be the 24:00 of the 1st and so the 00:00 of the 2nd of January and not the 00:00 of January the 1st as I image you planned the start of operations).

I will write the .conf template soon Massimo, finishing some details on the wallet right now.

About the release time, it will be in the night of December 31st to January 1st, it will be launched at the same time as the Fireworks for the new year!  Smiley
