I was just curious couldn't the community take over this coin? and just recompile a new wallet that works? if so we should do that as the dev isn't a supportive dev and dosnt care for this coin obviously.

That makes sense. +1

This is quite a mess indeed. First thing that needs to be done is make it easy for new users to come and use the wallet. Is it possible to put together a download that includes all the current blocks up to date for the wallet so we can avoid this sync issue?

Next thing we need all the pools to be mining on the same chain. I emailed some of them and the only one that replied to me was the nice chap over at dedicated pools. Bitember did not even need to be contacted as they sorted theirs out themselves in a timely manner. The rest have not replied to my email about the issue so my only advice for now is to avoid those pools for mining volt until we get this cleared up.

I can see that a few people have lost some coins in this mess... I am not so sure if there will be a way to recover 100% of all the lost coins but there may be a chance at doing a transaction recovery that I read somewhere in the cent/pennies threads. Check the razorlove thread for foobar and pennies etc. Some people there had some commands that could be put into the wallet to try and recover lost transactions. Not sure if that will work in this case, I am no expert on wallets and code, but its definitely worth a try.

If these issues can be fixed and we see a bit of stability in the coming months then I will be more than happy to put my computer hardware shop online to accept volt as payment exclusively. Someone else said earlier in this thread that mining another profitable coin and trading for volt would be a better idea to attract more volume and new miners. Seems like a great idea to me but personally I will probably do a 50/50 split on my machines with half on volt and half on another coin and trade in for volt.

Also as the others said, getting a solid community together is a must. If there are any other people that would like to offer services or e-commerce for volt or have any other ideas to support the coin and help it move forward I can be contacted on freenode IRC in channel #ccwirral

My opinion is to start from zero. To start volt in a good way, devianttwo should be out of the coin and let another dev team who is willing to take the project. The only thing he is doing is obstructing the way since the beggining, starting with those 2% giveaways which are quite dark. I hope he has no coins left or he has used them in a honoured way because that stinks too much. He is not showing and when he shows he is talking some bullshit which any person with enough brightness could see. A new clean face is needed. I suggest to tell him to let the wallet to different people to work on it. Once he is out and a new dev takes the project, show his face openly to the people who is supporting the coin and tries to solve those errors that are happening and be in touch with the community, then people will come and we can see a new resurrection with scamers away. This has to be done relatively fast as the cryptorace is starting to settle a bit and it's hard to scalate positions and gain popularity with so many 'competitors' around.

Before any takeover could even be considered.
All Help & Support should be offered to assist in correcting these problems.

If you take a look a few pages back the Dev has been extremely overwhelmed by the workload.

Anyone who is able to contact https://altexplorer.net/chain/Electric
Please let them know they are on the wrong fork.

Can anyone verify the exchanges are on the correct fork?

Devianttwo has repeatedly written on this forum that he is looking for someone to takeover the coin. I have sent numerous messages to the dev that I have a team that is willing to 'take-over' the coin without cutting him out... to which he never replied.

This coin has been a disaster since launching and devianttwo has refused to acknowledge or accept help.

As for the comment from Promethium about devianttwo being too busy, whatever happened to Spudcoin and all the other coins the HacksHard team were going to launch? It pretty obvious that coin launches are something you have wisely chosen to not become involved in. But I do congratulate you on the success of CryptoRush, an exchange I use quite abit.

I am not interested in a hostile takeover... but I do the resources to rebuild this coin... all that is needed is an acceptance of that help.

The offer is there...

It wasnt working when i deleted everything from the roaming folder. It didnt want to download the blockchain it stopped at block 479 or so. I had to download an older version and let it get to where the hard fork was then use the new version of the wallet to finish the sync.

Quote
I tried this with a linux version I compiled from source and it didn't work.  What a mess...

You can download the actual Blockchain here: http://uploads.altcoinfaucet.net/electric_chain.zip
Simply replace the blk* / database files.

That's quite a messy bug - not good for newcomers Sad

~Altcoinfaucet.net
Thanks, that allowed me to sync finally. My coinds didn't show though because they were withdrawn on the 7th and the blockchain was after that (10th?) however....

For anyone that might think they lost their coins in/around the fork try to force a recheck.

Ie,
Code:
./electric-qt -recheck

Worked for me. After syncing with the aboe blockchain there were no coins in my wallet, after a recheck, all accounted for.

You have exceeded the pools configured volt warning threshold. Please initiate a transfer!

My wallet is sync today! What nice!

Created new manual payout request with ID #397  (http://volt.easy-mining.net/)

But it do not do anything!

Wallet is still emty!

Do anybody have a answer! It's about 50 000 000 coins. Have been mining from 24 febr 2014.

Pool could be on the wrong fork OR, if you synced with the downloaded blockchain, try a recheck

For windows (linux version post above):
Code:
electric-qt.exe -recheck

But mining 2.5 weeks on a coin like this? maybe not smart (or maybe it'll pay off big)... I wouldn't have chanced it though

Darn tried the tricks / suggestins mentioned here and even though my wallet synchs, I have over 1 mill due from volt.easy-mining.net and many unconfirmed from 3/7/2014 my last receipt of any kind.  I tried the new faucet but never received anything Sad  I did get a message through to volt.easy-mining.net and he said he was going to get in touch with the dev to get it corrected.  I noticed no one is mining there now, I tried to let him know we have some help here but I am not sure if any of this works all the time to get us on the correct fork.  If anyone wants to help me test my wallet that would be awesome, I keep voting at Mintpal and at cryptsy for this coin and mined a bunch over the last month or two.  QdGfUTZR8zxvuzJTDiHPZbLrSziTgpGs1j
