to mine on windows:
in build-mediterranenancoin-win32-0.8.5.1.zip, there is a file "mcproxy.jar" with a lib sudirectory.
To run the the proxy, just cd in the directory where you unzipped it all and run the command "java -jar mcproxy".
You will need to have Sun Java 1.6 JRE installed.

After that, you can launch the modified cgminer (there is a tutorial on the website http://www.mediterraneancoin.org, it is for linux but several aspects are in common with windows). We will prepare a tutorial for windows too.

what flavor of linux are you using?

in case, try to install libudev-dev. On Debian/Ubuntu:

sudo aptitude install libudev-dev

Yes it is possible to mine with this difficulty because the Proof of Work algorithm for MediterraneanCoin is not Scrypt nor Hash256, but a completely different one.
