did any miner will be usefull for this coin?

Hello,

There is both a GPU miner(Modified Reaper) and CPU miner(built in).

errrrrr...I think you said in op:
Quote
Mining: CPU Only

so CPU is useless because GPU has more hashrate..

CPU is not useless. CPU still achieves decent hashing on the coin(such as Amazon instances and CPU rigs).

GPU is also useful but not to the point of making CPU useless, as is the case with Scrypt.

Any hashrate estimates for a specific model of CPU and GPU to form a baseline?

premine?

"Other Details
To support eCoin integration into exchanges, services, and blockr.io, a portion of coins will be dedicated to an eCoin Foundation. This address will be public and we will keep a public ledger for all uses. These funds will be dedicated to increasing eCoin's usability.
"

Looks like a pre-mine.

Really disappointed to see GPU added to this at the "last minute." Was looking forward to a new CPU only coin.

Too bad it is not cpu only anymore...you should at least postpone the releasing of the gpu miner with a few hours

CPU mining is still viable and profitable.

delaying the release of the gpu miner would be a good option, as this was announced as a cpu only coin

I would have liked a CPU only coin as intended... but delaying the gpu miner makes no sense. Delaying would allow only the OP and a couple of opencl programmers to GPU mine....

I would say a delay of 30 minutes or 1 hour. Programmers also needs that time to compile a miner and dev if is fair waits that time before hashing with gpu

also: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Hashcash#Future_Hash

tl;dr there is a possibility of bitcoin moving to sha3 ... especially if someone comes up with an attack for sha256... however unlikely that is...

will there be a special miner for sha-3 or does the normal cgminer also work?

i think delaying the release of GPU miner will be a good option as it will not allow botnets.....And that will also help to keep diffculty ok...
and hoping it won't start as the qubitcoin...which had the difficulty of 350 in just 6hrs....
