Bitcoin/Bit/Satoshi is the way to go. Each range of 4 decimal places will cover 10,000 units, which is easy to remember, and the names are easy to say. And look at this beautiful little thing below. You can express this whole naming scheme in two lines!
1 Bitcoin = 10,000 Bits 1 Bit = 10,000 Satoshis
Simplicity. Marketability. Roll-off-the-tongue-ness.
+1 We have a winner?

The name for 10k satoshis (or 1/10k bitcoins) should be myriabits (from myriad meaning 10 thousand). It's poetic, symmetric, concise and clear (except, admittedly, liable to be confused with millibits). -- FK The contest to propose a name for the 0.0001 BTC unit continues! Details below.... Please read carefully:The name list in the poll is set in stone. The primary criteria that held sway was the number of recommendations (including duplicate or similar submissions) for each name, followed by terseness and marketability. That said, I thought some of the suggestions that didn't make the cut were pretty good, but these to some degree or another seemed to spark more interest from the community. So... please go ahead and vote for whichever name you feel is "best", based on your own personal criteria/preferences/etc. You also get a second vote if you want to throw your weight behind another name in case your first choice doesn't get into the final four (I strongly recommend doing so.) Note that you will not be able to change your votes! Feel free to comment on the choices, or to make the case for one choice over others. As usual, please stay on topic, etc. Voting will be closed and the thread locked at 23:59:59 CST (GMT-6) on Wednesday, January 8. Shortly thereafter the final poll presenting the final four names will be posted. The final four will be chosen from the highest-voted names that are not found to be obviously flawed (see first thread for examples.) One final thought: keep in mind that a name for the unit wouldn't necessarily be used as-is; variations of it, or even abbreviations or prefixes derived from it could just as well take hold. With that, we're off. May the best name win!

I still argue that the canon name was the correct name and that is the one based off Tonal Bitcoin or 1 Tonal is a Bitcoin-Bong https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Tonal_BitcoinSo regarding its marketing it should be consistent with the principle but I digress That said of this list the first bitcoin transaction occured between Satoshi and Hal Finney so goes with the Finney

The nice thing with the 10,000 factor is, we have already another one for the upper side (although it sounds more slang than offical): 1 Pizza = 10,000 Bitcoins

This. 1/100 and 1/10000 are not typical units used in science - everything is 1000 based not 100 based. It's confusing. We should just stick to BTC and satoshi and metric units derived from this exactly like the above. This poll has no meaning or official recognition and will go nowhere. Will

I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for "Don't name it at all."
I am seriously opposed to all naming and converting of Bitcoin decimals to other formats other than simply 0.0001 BTC (Point Zero Zero Zero ONE BTC) or ONE TEN THOUSANDTH of a Bitcoin. It really helps put into perspective the value of the amount being offered and eliminates any confusion.
When you start saying millibits, billybits, bips and all this mess then people will disagree. How hard is it to understand that 1 Bitcoin has 1 Million Bits? Why should we name 5000 Bits something and name 10000 Bits something else?
It would make more sense to call 0.00000001 BTC a BIT, but there is already a name in honor of Satoshi.
So if anything, 0.0001 should be called 10,000 Satoshis which sounds way cooler than anything else on the list.
