i wonder how much of the paidout BTC was then reinvested into buying more hashrate from him
Or even if they exist atall. No he has had to buy some quantity of GH/s for sure. One scenario is he run away with money but he had to have a good quantity of GH/s anyway to keep the "service" up and running for so long. Another scenario is that he bought GH/s at CEX or similar and bet and bet and bet by selling and buying GH/s, and finally lost so much that he couldn't pay back people on PBM anymore. And another scenario is he bought GH/s at CEX or similar, got fed up of the process altogether, sold all the GH/s and fled. It would be interesting to see if there was some massive selling of GH/s at CEX lately...

This was probably there because it makes harder to prosecute him from other countries than from Canada:
**As of June 21, 2014 we are no longer allowing orders to be purchased by residents of Canada. By continuing with this purchase, you are agreeing that you are not a Canadian citizen. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we will allow Canadians to purchase contracts again once we are get a clearer understanding of the regulatory requirements that need to be met.
Also, did anyone of you get any e-mail about bought contract with PB? Any confirmation on e-mail? I did not get anything, paid it and then few hours later it started "mining". So that makes it even harder...
But I do hope if he scammed us all he will suffer a big in his life and that someone will find him to "talk" with him in person...

Great poke! When I read that when I was buying I asked myself why the hell canadians couldn't buy GH/s and if there was any strict legislation on Bitcoin (of which I didn't know). Now it's clear: he thinks he can't be reached from outside of Canada! Jason, I'm coming to visit you, be sure!

Good work Puppet and anyone else involved.
Did you not just take bets that the ponzi would collapse?
I offered a simple straightforward bet and no one accepted it; some japanese math wizard said she wanted to, but insisted that as long as the website was up and pb was paying any arbitrary low dividend he wanted to, it hadnt failed. So I couldnt agree to those terms. BTW, Im still offering bets on all the other cloudmining ponzi's: CoIntellect.com coinsoncloud.eu Cryptomine.io cloudmining.website PBmining.com cloudminr.io grmining.com If anyone thinks any of the above will be around and complying with their contract come next summer, lets make a bet.

Actually there was this about Canada : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418183.msg7725379;topicseen#msg7725379Hi PB mining admins I'm just kind of anxious. I saw you are established "in SK, Canada". Can you garantee your customers that new bitcoin regulatory rules in Canada won't lead the website to shut down? (I precise I'm not from Canada). We have halted business with Canadians until Bill C-31 is more clear as they have only released a rough draft so far (not to mention it is quite vague). More details will come this year, but from what it looks like it will be more geared towards BTC/CAD exchanges even on the private level (localbitcoins.com is an example). We have placed the limit as to who may purchase from us just in case there is more that comes from it that would extend to what we are doing. In the worst case scenario, we simply continue dealing with non-Canadian customers. No matter what happens though, we are obliged to fulfill our side of the deal and pay our customers out for the entire 5 year term so even if we were to shut down for any other strange reason we would still have to pay you out. Most of our mining operation isn't even in the country anymore, but I think the most important thing is to place a temporary restriction on Canadian orders until we know more details of what's going on. So it did seem quite Legit at the time !

I would put all the coins I ever received from pb into a fund to organize a.. Let's say an investigation in RL.. I really hope more people are willing and we can put together something. I can live well with the financial loss, but it would bother me if this guy is having a good time with my money.

Just invoke the authorities. Canada isnt Burkina Faso. The police or whatever cybercrime unit they have there is the first place to start and confirm at least the identity. If they fail to do anything you can always lawyer up and try to go for it yourself later.
For the record, when Pirate's ponzi collapsed there where a bazillion threads about pooling money, getting lawyers, personal threats blah blah blah, in the end it was the SEC that nailed him.

always best to leave it to the proper authorities. he'll get his comeuppance eventually.

LTC paid out today so all seems fine. Also you can sell your shares on LTC so there's an escape route which is a good sign it is not a ponzi.

But pirate was not so stupid that he was competely doxed before the Ponzi collapsed, no? I share your view, though. The authorities shoult take care of it first.

He was doxed to a degree thats quite comparable to Jason's doxing. IOW, we were fairly sure who he was.
