If someone wants to generate a vanity for each team, I'll help with the bet accounting for payouts.

1BRNCS
vs
149ERS/ers or 1SEA/1HAWKS

Would a particular Bitcoin betting site be used with your idea?

Also, whether Seattle or San Francisco wins, Bitcoin, of sorts, will be represented.
The trust scores you see are subjective; they will change depending on who you have in your trust list.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

If San Fran, it'll be their second matchup, with Denver seeking retribution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXIV

Otherwise, it'll be their first meetup in a SB: Denver vs. Seattle.

No idea on the legality, so sites may be tricky. I'd just be putting up a public Google Docs spreadsheet with address, bet amount, team columns, then input whatever formula is appropriate to distribute the winnings proportionally.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

I like your idea, but was leaning toward some reputable (NOT dissing you, TBZ) Bitcoin related entity receiving juice if all goes to plan. BitPay comes to mind.

That said, I'm all for the bet idea (unless something better is offered up), but not linking to a Bitcoin betting site due to the stigmatism attached to such, mainly due to Bitcoin doesn't need any more bad press.

Let's continue to kick this around some more, TBZ, and thanks kindly for your valuable inputs.

Juice? BitPay?

Lol this reminds me of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, always with the questions.

By juice he means the collective BTC that people commit in bets.

I'm not too familiar with BitPay so can't really comment on how that mechanism works.

Actually, what I mean by 'juice' is the relatively inexpensive expose an entity would receive if such an event goes quasi-viral. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=juice

As far as BitPay is concerned: http://www.quora.com/BitPay/Whats-the-difference-and-overlap-between-BitPay-and-Coinbase

BITCOIN WILL BE SEEN BY OVER 100M VIEWERS AT SUPER BOWL XLVIII!!!

Looks like the Bitcoin sign idea to date is on the right track:

Seahawks' Richard Sherman, love him or hate him, is already the face of Super Bowl XLVIII

Waste of money, in my opinion. But, if someone has plenty of money to waste and wants to this, I won't complain. It would be better to just buy 5 million dollars worth of bitcoin and then give away 100 dollars worth in paper wallets to 50,000 people.

That 5 million should go to pay developers. Development is way too centralized.

You do realize that this will probably be the last Superbowl that WON'T have a bitcoin mention, right?  Two years from now, people will be buying their hot dogs with it.

My understanding is that these commercials get produced and approved many months in advance, so I doubt Overstock would mention Bitcoin since they just started accepting it a few days ago. But hopefully I'm wrong!

This is true with most large companies, commercials are produced (actually multiple) then tested with focus groups to identify the best response. These are normally completed by October/November time-frame, reviewed in the Month of December. However, anyone can skip the test market piece, try to wait for the last day possible (like January 6th) and submit them to the network. So it is conceivable someone could of created one in late December, did a few day focus group and submitted in early January.

Hence the guerrilla marketing approach. See what I have so far (especially the last few posts): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423615.20
