Stop changing your mind on what is 'fair'.  NEX is stillborn unless you stop contradicting yourself.

EDIT: The way I see it, you have NO NEX for trade or bounty UNTIL you create the genesis block in a fair and equitable way.  And, that genesis creation should stick to your original post and require 'expressing interest'.  After genesis has been created and initial distribution is ejected, THEN you can do what you want with your NEX.

Yes, there is no cost to get NEX coins.  That has not changed.

Now, if you happen to also have Nxt coins, then you can exchange them for NEX (subject to a hard limit).

The Nxt folks are limited to 5% of the coins,  while everyone else has dibs on 94% of the coins.   So what exactly is your issue?  You think you deserve more than 94%? (BTW, 1% is for the VisaCoin victims)

There are many ways that you can contribute to NEX to acquire a bigger stake.

Also,  by encouraging Nxt holders to exchange their shares for NEX, we are acting as a catalyst for Nxt holders to make the switch.

By setting an artificial price on NEX (50 NEX == 1 NXT) you have unwittingly participated in an enormous market manipulation, and I believe the success of the project is harmed in a very serious way.

The Nxt / NEX price was set deliberately low.   This is to ensure that people exchanging Nxt for NEX have a higher probability of preserving their investment.   Theoretically, the ratio should be 1:1.  In fact, when NEX starts trading on the open market, the ratio may be achievable.

Would you have rather had the ratio at 1 NEX == 1 NXT?

And for all NEX project leaders, if you want to clone the NXT code then ok - let's good code spread the world. But you must be really very pathetic if you must publish the NXT infographics on your first NEX announcement page. That's showing how poor this project is (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422052.0) so it's not even able to create its own graphics. At least this you could learn from Bitcoin/Litecoin clones  .  I know the man who created them and sorry and I can hardly imagine he's one of your supporters.

The nex community doesn't look very promising either. Hmmmm....lets see.......we've got FrictionlessCoin on the tech side and FrictionlessCoin on the marketing, FrictionlessCoin handling community liaison, FrictionlessCoin contacting the exchanges, FrictionlessCoin organising an audit on the software and FrictionlessCoin making the tea.

I think this is a tactical mistake. If you get people to sell you their NXT, which you then sell for BTC, this will put downward pressure on the NXT price, which will disincentivize development of NXT, i.e., development of NEX. If you want NEX to succeed, you should do everything you can to be sure that your development team (aka, the NXT development team) keeps working hard.

sold my NXT today. Distribution just too unfair. No distribution will ever be equal or completely fair, I understand that.
But ending the IPO early is a common insider-benefits con. Everyone should understand this. There is artificial scarcity because while there is 1000 users interest in NXT, only 73 get access, thus there is huge run-up in price. The 73 stakeholders can do anything they want. They have all the power. They can pump and dump, manipulate the market, create loyal followers through giveaways (one guy gave me 32 NXT. gee, thanks).

If the dev of NEX is not bullshitting and actually intends to push this forward, NEX could be huge. From this thread there are already 50+ interested parties. NEX can be what NXT will never be.

As for fair distribution, make people send a picture of themselves along with their NEX wallet address handwritten on a piece of paper.

5% to NXT investors is actually fair , cos they are the ones who supported the NXT protocol so far and consequently NEX.
there would be no NEX without the current NXT investors.
5% is actually a very small portion of the pie in proportion to their contribution.

this is what's missing in this thread.

I think a fair distribution would look something like this
70% equally distributed among the "interested"
10% developers (which are currently already receiving btcs)
10% for bounties
5% to the NXT investors
5% to be defined


also another thing which makes no sense.....how you gonna distribute manually to potentially thousands if not millions of interested ppl?
the obvious best way would be a well organized faucet to spread the NEX with captcha, ip recording and retweet activation (the retweet obviously also goof for spreading teh word).

also you may wanna refer to NEX as a fairness coin project......open a forum and maybe poll for name/logo/distribution model etc. and discuss ideas. there is no fairness without democracy.

It would be interesting to start a discussion on how best to fairly distribute the coins.

Distribution should not be proportional to how wealthy you are.  Rather is should be based on another metric.  

Distrubution similar to Bitcoin should be proportional to the effort expended to secure and improve the network.  How that is done is open to discussion.
