we're getting hit a lot harder than expected i estimate the overall hashrate to be well over 100

One question:

Considering the hashrate is not expected to be too high (because of fee-only rewards) and that it is SHA256 (and thus ASIC compatible),
isn't the risk of a 51% attack considerably high?
