So far I don't understand how a real enterprise can work on Ethereum, really. I saw a lot of promotional videos explaining what DAO is and how good the future will be, but I when it comes down to real world I don't get the idea how a real enterprise (even a small one) can benefit from Ethereum, and stay secure, reliable, flexible and pay low cost for the financial services. And why smart contracts are better than what we currently have (centralized financial services, for example).

There are already a few projects based on the Ethereum. Banco Santander has worked on Ethereum.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Enterprise etherium is the biggest scam I've seen so far, why are imbeciles buying ethf when they're telling you that they've already switched to a private chain?  There's 100,000,000 ethf and they're not using any of them. The crash is going to be catastrophic after this fake news pump and dump. R3 also LEFT blockchains.

scam in the new york times?

And that's exactly how I see it. ETH can only rise if people will use it in real world like they do with Bitcoins. However, why should enterprises (especially banks like Goldman Sachs) use public blockchains if they can create a private one (with fork or without)? I can only see public Ethereum as a service for small enterprises but I don't see how they (a pharmacy, a grocery store or even an outsourcing IT company) can use public Ethereum DAO securely and reliably!

Can you explain how this new computer system will use or accept existing ETH tokens? Without backing by a real demand I see current rise as a pump which will be inevitably followed by a dump.

Although I don't think that the crash will be too much catastrophic. Yes, there are 100 millions coins, but there are 5-10 millions of investors. Average budget per investor is 150-300 dollars which is an affordable price to "buy and forget" (and maybe eventually lose). People won't sell off all eths that they possess at once.

Maybe you should broaden your view. Was there a demand for a smart phone in 2007?

Wink

Is Ethereum supply limited like Bitcoin supply? If not, it may happen that although market cap will rise, our coins won't...

When proof of stake comes in... inflation is going to be reduce to as low as under 1% per year.

As more users fuel in Ethereum's Platform by paying Gas... some percentage of those GAS, which is paid using Ethers are going to be burned. Thus ether's total supply could get lesser. U can watch Vitalik Video here (please be aware that this theories is still under consideration, not final yet)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9b4vQ37-qQ

Don't smart contracts create ETH tokens? When that hack happened last year, it was like that a lot of Ethereum was just generated out of thin air, not stolen, wasn't it?

You should cross check the facts... it is everywhere on googles and youtube that tell the whole real story. Regarding alot of ethereum generated out of thin air, we called it ETC. You should ask the Etc's guy at their thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1559630.0

Maybe you should broaden your view. Was there a demand for a smart phone in 2007?

Yes it was. And was there a demand for Blue Ray disks (if you remember what it is)?

Anyway, if you predict that there will be a demand on enterprise blockchain solutions, how you can benefit from it? I think the answer is: study the subject, start up a company and sell these solutions! And not "buy a lot of ETH (why ETH, not ETC?) and wait until it grows up to $1M".

You never know, but it is your decision where to invest (or speculate).

Smart contract tech is being used in every single shittoken ICO as it is orders of magnitudes better and more efficient way to escrow trades which enables automation of shreholder's payments in a transparent and trustless way. This proves that eth as a pioneering technology has potential to take governance automation to a whole new level. Looking at the old, slow and hugely political bitcoin, it becomes apparent that eth as a rival could be worth around 140 bucks right fucking now.
