Both are equally good, depending on how you analyze and your strategy in cryptocurrency. If you want to hold it for a long time, I personally prefer BTC. But, I suggest that you buy both, 60% BTC and 40% altcoins, to reduce the risk if one of the coins has problems.

Bitcoin is much more established than altcoins, but i prefer to invest into altcoins, because of the turn over rate. It's more like this:
It is hard for you to have x3 to x5 profit on bitcoin, most especially in a time like this. For instance, if you buy 1 btc now at $6000, you cannot easily have $18000 or $30000 after the investment.
