I'm a verified user, but I have to say that this exchange is the absolute worst. Their verification process is useless & you are forced to jump through burning hoops & hassle support to get the thing done. This is the only centralized exchange I use & from my experience with them so far it will be my last. I only use them for 3 coins & currently all 3 of those wallets are disabled - including their BTC wallet.

I also have a missing BTC deposit from 8 hours ago that is confirmed on the network with no reply from support.

Avoid this place like the plague. If I get my coins back I will never use a centralized exchange again, especially one that wants documentation - it's just not worth the risk or hassle.

Edit: Their BTC wallet has come back online & my missing deposit has arrived. No reply from support still though.

I still wouldn't recommend this exchange to anyone & am clearing out my funds - when the other 2 wallets come back online that is. If they ever do.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

What is a "Legacy Account" anyway? I've been logging into mine almost every day, I signed up last year, gave then all the required details, so how can my account be a "Legacy"?

And hell, what if you have no way of providing the requested "Passport," "Photo ID" or "Licence"?
what if you DONT want to give them those details without a clear statement on what they are going to use it for (GDPR Compliant type thing)?

Just for update guys.
My account was FROZEN suddenly yesterday, so i started the account verification and got it quickly, took about 5 minutes.
Even with verified account i was still frozen and not able to trade or witdraw.
I sent ticket but got no answer past 24h.

For my surprise, logged at poloniex now and my account come back to normal.
So i gues that some cases you just need to verify your account by sending your ID and selfie and wait some hours.

Legacy account only means that you created your account before certain very important term changes were forced through.

This title however doesn't prove to hold much value. Bittrex has automatically changed the status of all legacy accounts to have them comply with their recently changed terms, which people are massively complaining about.

I had a pretty solid withdrawal limit before this trolling started, but it got downgraded to just 0.4BTC which is quite demotivating. If the price keeps going up, basic accounts will only be allowed to withdraw 0.10BTC.

[SNIP]
I am still getting the "Attention Required" verification status, even after submitting the requested docs.

What kind of photo have you submitted? I suspect that the system has rejected mine.

Thank you!

Was the same for me, after some time the 'Attention Required' badge disappeared but i still could not place orders or initiate withdrawals.
After several hours I finally was able to use my account normally again.

I sent them photos taken with my mobile, stripped exif, jpeg compression around 75 (gimp) and reduced resolution (~700x1200px). every info necessary i clearly visible tough.

My guess is the systems need some time to sync...

Everyone needs to make a lot of noise about this. They are holding our money hostage in exchange for personal information. They have lied and said they'd give us prior warning but no warning was given.
 Sad
Maybe because people were withdrawing their money. Send them emails, post on their twitter. Do everything you can so they can't just ignore us.
 Huh
This is theft. We should be able to leave if we don't want their services  Angry

Time to leave centralized exchanges guys. This KYC thing will ruin everything and spread like a disease. You either support dex's or lose your funds to these thieves. Choice is yours as always.

Cryptobridge and bisq are good places to start your journey. No KYC, no verification, no problems.

Almost all the top exchanges requires a KYC verification, so I guess you have no choice but to stick with what you've said and just rely on decentralized ones.
The current situation right now is, if you chose centralized - be prepared on the endless verification while for the other one, you need to buckle up for a ride of maintenance and slow performance.

What maintenance and slow performance are you referring to - on Poloniex I presume? It is super slow (4 hours for a deposit, 8 hours no reply from support & 2 out of 3 wallets disabled for weeks) - I've never had this problem on any decentralized exchange.

No, that was for the decentralized exchanges. Idex- common maintenances , Etherdelta - slow performance speed.
For the record, I don't use poloniex so I cannot really relate on your matter.

What I have said, is based on my own experience using a centralized (ex. binance ) and a decentralized (idex & ED).

Tried to read the posts in this thread to decide if I will go with the verification process of just leave Poloniex for good and upon reading comments, some got their accounts back while some accounts are still frozen. Question is if Poloniex is still worth the effort to go through that process when there are other exchange sites with better services. I guess I'll just leave it as is for now until I find a good reason to go through that KYC process.

Apparently, for Poloniex, legacy account means you have no control over your funds anymore unless you verify. So basically either send in your documentation or forget about the crypto you have deposited there. Have to say that's kind of lame, especially since they have explicitly said they won't disable withdrawals for legacy accounts.

https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2017.12.27-Notice-to-legacy-account-holders/

Quote
The exact date for this deadline will be announced in Q1 2018

Um nope, didn't happen, they announced nothing.

Quote
While you will be given advance notice before this requirement goes into effect

Again, nope, no notice was given.

Quote
On the date of the deadline, legacy accounts will be placed in a state where:
...
Withdrawals will remain enabled at the daily withdrawal limits prior to the deadline

Yeah, we saw how that panned out.
Personally, i have some ETH there and feel it would be kinda stupid to just leave it to them so i will probably cave and go through the verification process, get my money and forget about that exchange. Will sure demand that they delete my personal data as well after i'm done (which i'm sure they'll do /s). In the end it's all my fault, i completely forgot about that 6 months old press release. Should have withdrew my crypto immediately. Oh well, another day, another lesson learned.

Today my Poloniex a/c was frozen telling me to complete verification.  I have a good amount of BTC there.  Tried the verification a few times but it doesn't go through... any tips?

If your application is pending review for over a day, then it probably means that they are just currently flooded with requests right now and aren't ready to process yours in time. Apparently, some people have got their's in way less than a day's time.

If it hasn't been processed for more than say, a week, then you should probably start messaging support and ask them what is wrong.

I'd just like to say though that without a legacy account on which people are able to trade without verification, there is virtually no reason to use poloniex anymore. Even though Circle has bought them out, there doesn't seem to be much signs of improvements.

Their KYC process as of now do already requires a photo of your face with a poloniex word behind it or just simply a time stamp on it. If you can barely do such thing for verification then this wont be an issue.Processing would always been pain in the ass but Polo should really make better this time if they would really like to retain their reputation. They should improve as should be.

Has anybody gone through their entire verification in the last couple days? I would greatly appreciate if someone described the whole process, what do they require in steps, or just link to a post that describes it somewhere (I couldn't find)

I honestly wouldn't bother unless you want slow support, scripted responses, wallets offline & funds you can't access.

I have tried going through it but my profile says "Pending Review" since May 27.

Basically you fill out your name, address and phone number and then provide front and back image of identity document (passport or drivers license), and then provide a selfie.

Bittrex used to be a damn exchange. I loved that exchange, and had awesome trades in that one. And one day they collapsed my withdraw limit from 3 BTC to 0.4BTC,without prior warning. And then they shut down registrations and came up with a new beta, let's see what they have really done now. Although,Bittrex's CEO confirmed that USD pairs will be available in bittrex,as they have teamed up with a New York signature bank.
I'd just like to say though that without a legacy account on which people are able to trade without verification, there is virtually no reason to use poloniex anymore. Even though Circle has bought them out, there doesn't seem to be much signs of improvements.
People expected Circle to have more employees for support and whatnot, and the support has only become worse since then. I don't know if they are not trying or are they still coping with the new platform. Either poloniex has managed to ruin its reputation to mud.

I believe that they are coping with the new platform but somehow they shouldnt take aside on what are the things that should be prioritize.Yes, it does take too much time and effort but this should really be the way on how to treat up users. If they would just simply neglect this one then i will not be surprised that they would go the same path with poloniex. Exchange popularity do come and go depending on how they do perform or do such service into its users.
