There is a minimum threshold one is allowed to travel beyond immigration border. In my country , you can't travel with more than $10,000;Unless you document and declare it.  Do you think I need to declare my cryptocurrency to the immigration? OR should I keep mute. My fear is I might be charge with money laundering if I later exchange my crypto at my destination and the authorities found out. Any body with experience to share with me.

And what kind of claims you may have from the immigration authorities. Are you carrying the crypto currency across the border in a suitcase? If you worry that you can then ask questions about the crypto currency, then think about what you can say about your millions on the border. You will always manage to lose your savings. This of course does not apply to those states where crypto-currency is generally banned.

Never even  thought about declaring it, you are free to have how much money you want in an account and withdraw what you need in the country you of choice.
Crypto is no different, just pay taxes on the buy and sell price, there are no other limitations, I could go to a country and just pay hotel bills no matter the size etc ? I guess you will transfer funds to your account. Otherwise i am not sure, if you do if off books it could be sensitive!

Oh perhaps not in North Korea and Iran since they lack a World bank branch!

The 10,000 treshhold does not apply to you account... that is 1 hotel night in Vegas! You can spend as much as you like if you travel with electronic cash!

It isn't necessary at all, you are over thinking on it. Number 1, crypto won't be classified as money, it will be considered asset and travelling with asset doesn't require disclosure.
Number 2, it is not like liquid money. Suppose you travel with Debit/Credit Card, it won't amount you are travelling with entire of your Bank balance. Only hard money counts here and cryptocurrencies aren't hard money.

Don't be unnecessarily stupid. First of all, you do not have to declare any of it. You will just be laughed at or treated like a criminal. If the rules do not state you have to declare, then don't. Don't be a wise guy.

Also, why would you need to carry any of it with you anyway? Carry your private key or seed if you REALLY want to.

You don't need to declare crypto when you are moving from X to Y destination.
But I think you need to clarify when you will exchange your crypto at Y destination and bring to your destination (X) if you get caught.

Let's say, you are moving with $10k cash and you have $20k in crypto in your online wallet or paper wallet.
So with your $10k you are good to go and assume that immigration doesn't known anything about your crypto.

But when you will return back with $20k cash and you get caught -  what will be your answer?
I assumed that your $10k cash was fully spent during your journey and you don't have any more cash from there.

So that is pure money laundering - anything without declaration is illegal... Customs may ask you how do you get such a big amount of money -  your answer?

You may say, I won a lottery in Las Vegas Roll Eyes  Cheesy and doubled my cash... Proof? I'm not sure if casinos do provide any invoice of winning though  Smiley

It isn't essential in any way, you are over reasoning on it. Number 1, crypto won't be named cash, it will be considered resource and going with resource doesn't require revelation. Number 2, it isn't care for fluid cash. Assume you travel with Debit/Credit Card, it won't sum you are going with whole of your Bank adjust. Just hard cash tallies here and cryptographic forms of money aren't hard cash.

Do these immigration guys understand what Crypto is all about, one of the good thing about Crypto is that you can move around with million of USD and no one will know what you are carrying, to me it would be stupid to be declaring the value of Crypto one is carrying around

Why on earth would you declare it? It's the same if you have funds/cash in your bank account, would you declare that? You only declare what you have physically which is never the case with cryptocurrency

why will you declare bitcoin at immigration when travelling?all you need to do is to look at the country you are travelling to whether they are crypto friendly.Because cryptocurrency do not know borders or boundaries around the world,The only problem with travelling is that you need to know the regulation in that country concerning cryptocurrrency before you make up your mind to travel there or else you get there and cannot spend your money due to restrictions on cryptocurrency.

Actually your bitcoin is just the combinations of words or numbers and letters, as you can keep it secret. You can move to anywhere with millions but spending can be issue

About your cryptocurrency in Aeroporto certainly report is not necessary... It is not serious, the immigration service did not believe the cryptocurrency for money.

It is quite fascinating to hear that you want to declare your cryptocurrency to the authority. Or it a big joke? Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that most times operates with anonymity, I wonder how you intend to declare it. I have not heard such a thing before.

Why should you declare it? The one that must be declare was cash on hand but there is no "show money" involved in most of the cases. Cryptos are not part of it as it was digital. Immigration fficers doesn't asked that question so why bother to tell them you have a cryptos.

Just be ready with your cash money (fiat). You want a less hassle interrogation so better just follow protocols and don't be regret if you convert some of your cryptos into cash to act as you cash money on immigration.

Cash is not cryptocurrency. If you have to declare any asset which might have high value, or exceed $10k, then you might want to think about declaring it. But I don't think so that would be the case.

About money laundering: if you can show the authorities how the transactions went, then I think it would clear you of the charges.

If I were you don't travel in country which is still banned the crypto, and for the other country will allow it make it sure how much their corresponding value of money they allowed so that no hassle for you. I think no need to declare it to immigration.
