It's quite obvious, but he didn't announce it explicitly on Twitter. He did it on the mcx chat.

He's talking about that right now.

wow this coin has gone from hero to zero real quick in my books.
failed lauunch and know a select few get to gpu mine while the rest stuck with cpu
are the devs getting worse or is it just me. are they just out to try make a quick buck and do not care about the future of crypto all that much . i dont know maybe its just me.

Select few can GPU mine?  Where and who?  Please link.

This is on an 8 core XL Azure free trial:

Code:
./minerd --algo=keccak --benchmark
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 7 to cpu 7
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 0 to cpu 0
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 1 to cpu 1
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] 8 miner threads started, using 'keccak' algorithm.
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 3 to cpu 3
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 4 to cpu 4
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 6 to cpu 6
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 2 to cpu 2
[2014-02-06 04:57:23] Binding thread 5 to cpu 5
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 2: 2097152 hashes, 782.90 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 6: 2097152 hashes, 782.78 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 0: 2097152 hashes, 781.91 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 3: 2097152 hashes, 781.76 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 5: 2097152 hashes, 781.38 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 7: 2097152 hashes, 778.56 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 1: 2097152 hashes, 778.28 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:26] thread 4: 2097152 hashes, 775.25 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:31] thread 7: 3892811 hashes, 783.44 khash/s
[2014-02-06 04:57:31] Total: 6248 khash/s

I am rather new to this mining stuff. I think I'm doing the same as you are doing with the same XL system with CentOS, but three issues come up:

1. I don't see any of the "Binding thread..." lines
2. My individual thread hash is ~912 khash/s

I don't know why this is the case.

I think if you want good volume initially it will be coins-e simply because the devs have been pushing it and they have had 1000's of registrations in anticipation of maxcoin.

i have read that someone got the cuda miner to work for the new algro, but this is not set in stone, just becacuse a benchmark works does not mean it will work with the maxcoin wallet.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but shouldn't we contact developers to ask for delay before CGminer for keccak would be released? Cause if they talk about fairness, Nvidia guys already have advantage on both cpu and ati users. And I don't see how less fair start could be than it is now.

Another strike for clueless posters, the devs haven't released a cgminer for Maxcoin therefore any that are out there are not going to work are they.

Anyone know when the binaries will be downloadable (password protected) ?

Is a regular pool software working with this coin ? Or should it be a custom made pool engine ?

Hey, your the clueless noob that said scrypt was better. I couldn't stop laughing. Scrypt is the most power wasting hardware destroying thing that ever happened to alt-coins. Sha3 is about 300 times faster than scrypt.
