Lyra2z - Head to Head test of CoolMiner 1.3 Vs CryptoDredge 0.4.1
Hash rate numbers are vanity metrics and can be gamed. The only thing I care about is " which miner puts more coins in my wallet?" I've done dozens of Head to Head tests in the past see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3385643.0I've decided to test CoolMiner 1.3 Vs CryptoDredge 0.4.1 to see which one mines more coins on Lyra2z. MINERS:CoolMiner 1.3 intensity = 20 CryptoDredge 0.4.1 intensity = 6 The Setup:I use a 12 GPU 1080Ti rig on Windows 10, split into three mining instances of 4 GPU's each (for this test, only two of the instances are used). All three mining instances are balanced to get as close to the same hash rate as possible. Each mining instance is running at the same time on the same machine mining on the same pool. Overclock settings: 100% TDP, NO overclocking Drivers: Nvidia 398.11 Test 1 Results: Test aborted about 4 hours into the test, the rig crashed. I'm confident that it was due to CryptoDredge, the rig had close to two weeks of uptime running Coolminer. When I went to restart CryptoDredge, I got the following error: > Error: bad lexical cast: source type value could not be interpreted as targetGiven the increased temps, increased power draw, and stability issues; I cannot recommend CryptoDredge, even if it does provide a few percentage point gain over Coolminer. I'll wait until CryptoDredge has the bugs worked out to give it another try
Notes on CryptoDredge: - GPU's run about 6-8 degrees Celcius hotter than with coolminer
- The GPU count starts at 0, whereas ccminer variants start the count at 1. this obviously makes a difference when using the -d flag
- Intensity ranges from 0 to 6, 1080Ti defaults to a 6
- I initially had issues with stability. The miner would crash the rig after a minute or two of running. I had 397 drivers on the rig, which I knew caused issues for some miners. So I DDU'd the rig, installed 398 drivers, and didn't overclock... that seemed to clear up the problem.
- No API support

Can you tell the difference in power draw between coolminer and cryptodredge? Killawatt maybe?

I have 6.5% above Cool Miner in Hash and 35% in power from the wall! Also the temperatures raises...

Good perfs but unstable miner
My rig reboots after few hours (tested with 32 and 64 bits versions)
No problems with ccminer tpruvot

I ran some benchmarks comparing CoolMiner v1.3 to CryptoDredge 0.4.1
Seems CoolMiner does in fact run cooler, so given the API functionality, although just a tad slower - seems to be the optimal choice overall.
Lyra2z Benchmarks
Rig33 (0 CC | 0 MC)
CoolMiner v1.3 After 60+ Mins~
GPU 0 - 3,341.94 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 1 - 3,304.69 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 2 - 3,338.17 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 3 - 2,393.57 kh/s (MSI GTX 1080) GPU 4 - 2,426.58 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080) GPU 5 - 2,526.84 kh/s (EVGA GTX 1080) Total Hash = 17.33 MH/s
CryptoDredge v0.4.1 After 60+ Mins~
GPU 0 - 3,386 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 1 - 3,412 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 2 - 3,179 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) GPU 3 - 2,514 kh/s (MSI GTX 1080) GPU 4 - 2,560 kh/s (Gigabyte GTX 1080) GPU 5 - 2,707 kh/s (EVGA GTX 1080) Total Hash = 17.90 MH/s

Thanks, I hope to see better miners coming out for us without paying X.XXBTC. If CryptoDredge uses ~35% power then ccminer/coolMiner than it need's to be over 10% faster to pay for the extra electricity. Now when I think about FPGA .... , Hard times to be a GPU miner... P.S: Found solution to the error: stuck in a loop "retry after 5 seconds". when there is stratum connection/Stratum authentication error- now the miner will exit so you can monitor and relaunch it.

Update: coolMiner-v1.4!* Found solution to the error: stuck in a loop "retry after 5 seconds"- when there is stratum connection/Stratum authentication error- now the miner will exit so you can monitor and relaunch it. * Default intensity set to 18 Download:File.fm:64Bit: https://file.fm/f/2bts6tmmNofile.io:64Bit: https://nofile.io/f/05Cn5WVBRGF/coolMiner-x64-v1-4.zipSENDfiles:64Bit: http://www.sendfiles.net/?uid=6d0d2-667692b5Password: NdMmj7So More download links later. Unfortunately no , But this bug "retry after 5 seconds" was very serious, the miner could be stuck this way for hours without mining, so I thinks it's better then small speed improvement .

Regarding Linux- I asked for help bit got none , If you know how to edit the compile options so the binary could be shared and work on multiple systems- I will be happy to try and recompile, the Default build scripts on ccminer only works on the compiler PC, so I need help to modify them so you could also run it, Thanks in Advance!. Please check the build.sh script or modify your ./configure flags to remove '-march=native' and it should compile a universal binary.

Thank you for your Help, I just did as you sugested, also I have included the "libcudart.so.9.2" files that I had + text file with their path on my PC if it helps. Download coolMiner-v1.4L for Linux:File.fm:64Bit: https://file.fm/f/6y36v6vmPlease let me know it it works, It requires nVidia driver 396 to be installed(for Cuda9.2).
