It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

There is no way to recover your private key. Not even with myetherwallet.com so you have to keep your private in safe place. Paper wallets are far better method and if you go some extra money go for a hardware wallet.

Have you memorized your Etherwallet private key?
Why i should memorize it when i can make a simple backup in paper? Too much that i can handle for memorizing.

If you Lost your private key what will you do and how do you recover?Huh??
I will do nothing and forget it, since i lost my private key, then i can't do anything with it. Except, i can remember where i backup my private key.

hard to memorize too much, my advice should be private key in copy only or in save. examples at the beginning of this registration I forgot to save the prifat key I am confused to find where, after struggling finally found and still stored. I know that we lost a private key, must have to create an account again, because the account was no longer in use.

private keys can not be recovered, you should have backup of them at multiple places so if something bad happens at one place you have other backup.

It's too long for me to memorize and if I manage to memorize it i'll only use it once or twice to import it on a different wallet. Imo it's not worth it to memorize it unless you put all of your money on that address. If I lost my private key what i'll do is to sweep my wallet and make a new one. If I lost all access to my wallet there's no way getting it back i'll have to move on and learn from my mistakes.

How about you OP ? Did you memorize yours ?

You should never trust your memory that much, private keys are extremely hard to memorize, even more if you don't use it often, and if you forgetten it's impossible to recover.. seems like a terrible idea.

private key should you save well and carefully as much as possible do not let anyone can access private key you have because it is very dangerous, and when you lose the private key then the assets you have can be stolen.

Sometimes private key is remembered or difficult. So you have to use different ways to remember your Eather Wallet's private key. You can use the private key as well as the backup pin. Again you can copy and paste the private key elsewhere. If you forget, you can use it from there.

There is no option to recover private key . It was more sensitive, So my suggestion.......... keep your private key in a safe place. If possible, wrote it on a secure place.

I do not think anyone can remember the private key's serial number! It is too long and does not follow the rules, it is best to write it on paper and keep it safe! Or put it on the Internet as the most searched phrase of "Google" Grin Grin Grin Grin

Eatherwallet private key is not too long to memorize but think about it, why you will memorize it when you can copy and save to a personal notes on your personal computer. It's one of the easies way to remember your private key. If you lost your private key it's too hard to recover it.

I would recommend don't using a private key. A safer alternative is the file + password. If you lost the private key, then use this method.

This is the most important and previous thing to do always save your etherwallet private key and you also wrote that in a piece of paper and never give it to anyone, because this is your transaction pass code or password to make a transaction. Once you forget your private key that's it, it is the end of your day and all of your holdings will be gone like a bubbles. So always put your ether wallet private key in a safe place that you're the only one who knows it.

It is hard to memorize the private key and then most of the crypto holder had two or more digital wallet that make more complicated when you are going to memorize with you private key. You need to take down notes for it in a word pad or any notes that could help you remember with  your private key on you digital wallet.

Sir it is not necessary that you should memorize your private key. There are a lot of ways to store that  without memorizing. Try sharing it to your email or in your social media account privately but to be sure just write it down or print it and have many copies as possible so that losing one copy is not available problem.

Have you memorized your Eatherwallet private key?

Why do I have to remember my private key while I can copy and store it in a safe place? This question is really boring!

If you Lost your private key what will you do and how do you recover?Huh??

It's silly to say that someone will forget it, because we do not need to remember, we can secure it by hosting it in different places.

it should be so, we should really be able to keep our private key in a very safe place and no one knows it, unless it's someone you can trust or your own family knows where you keep your private key, because the private key is something very important to keep some of the assets you have, if someone else knows about it, of course it will threaten all the contents therein will be lost all.

it is not even advisable to memorize your myeatherwallet private key. all you need to do is to copy and paste in a safe place on your system or hardware where you can have access to it anytime the need arises. it is not advisable for you to be typing it out because you can by default miss any letter in it. every letters in the private key matters.

You do not have to remember. Just save on a piece of paper. Nobody will steal from it this way. The safest way is to use wallets that do not require an offline key.

Lol, there are so much more in life that you can do rather than memorizing your private keys in every wallet that you own. And believe me, there are a bunch of things that are more worthy of your memory than your private keys. Besides, You can make hundreds of back ups if you are too paranoid in losing your private keys.

If you happen to lose private keys and have no back up. Just cry and move on, nothing you can do about it anymore.

In case of loss of access to the private private key of the MyEtherWallet purse, it is also provided with a special file key and barcode scanning, which are also individual and seem to duplicate your secret private key. However, it is better not to lose this key and make their paper laminated copies or store information about them on electronic media, or better - both, but very much in a safe way. A place that excludes the access of unauthorized persons.

there is one more not only that for the security of MEW when creating a new wallet we can also save our keys by downloading files that have been provided after that there will be a display of our key which later if we forget the key we tingfgal upload the file.

If you  accidentally lost your private key theres no other way  to retrieve it. Thats why everytime you  make a wallet address they always said that you must print ,copy and save ypur peivate key to have a backup.

I dont know why you do ask this basic thing even just on our common sense we would able to know the answer and even yourself you can already pinpoint on what are the things you gonna do.

Memorizing keys literally is hard yet a string of letter and numbers cant really be easily remembered by each individual which it would have the tendency to forget and lose the access of that wallet thats why its common to write up those codes either on a paper or store it up on a notepad then keep them safe.

We do really need to remember our keys because once its lost then recovering would really be impossible.

Never met somebody who memorized his private key, it is hard and risky, because if you forget just 1 letter you will not recover it in any way. Just use paper, file or something like this.

If you want to have your funds save and not worry about all this stuff then just buy a hardware wallet such as trezor or ledger. They can store not only ethereum so your ass could be save with most cryptos from top 10

If you can't memorize the private keys then write it somewhere where no one can reach. Besides, protect your wallet with a strong password and don't let anyone know about this.

I think it would be safer to use metamask, using privatekey is not recommended, many myether-like phishing sites that want to steal your privatekey ,, must be discerning to distinguish the original or the web phising, be careful

I do not think it is possible to recover your private key when it is lost no matter how much you try, that it is why it is good to always save your private key on good storage, write it down in a diary and try to memorize it as it is you only key to access your data.

Well, as per i know there is no such way to recover private key. Not even with myetherwallet.com so it is better to keep the password writen some where.

Private key should be saved well and carefully as much as possible and it should be made sure that anyone else doesn't access your private key. Because somehow if you lose your private key then all your assets can be stolen. Its quite difficult to remember eather wallet private key so you should use different ways to remember it. Once it is forgotten then it becomes quite impossible to recover the private key.

no. Your assets or coins wont be stolen as long as no one has access to your private keys. If you lost your ptivate keys and you do not have any acces to your wallet , then you permanently lost all your coins but that does not mean they are stolen.

All private keys are hard to remember because a private key is compose of diffirent letters and numbers in a verry long text.

You can still be able to unluck your wallet as long as you have another back up access thru it. Other kinds of wallet do have a different method available to open your account. Few examples are passwords , pin code , .dat file , etc.

Only genius or people with high IQ can do that, I myself cant memorize it or even the first 20 combo digits, that why I print it our and save it to my private email to secure it and just have a loo whenever I need to put it on Either Wallet. Why bother to memorize if you can have it save somewhere else, because one letter or one number could mess up everything.

At times private key is recollected or troublesome. So you need to utilize distinctive approaches to recollect your Eather Wallet's private key. You can utilize the private key and the reinforcement stick. Again you can reorder the private key somewhere else. In the event that you overlook, you can utilize it from that point.

You can not restore the private key, so you need to store it separately on the USB flash drive. You can also print it on a paper and put it in the safe. Well, the option for the extremals is to fill the tattoo and your secret key will always be with you)))

lol.  i dont really think that op  can memorize those 40 digits, not unless he is a wiz kid or a genius kid.? anyways writing them one by one manually on a piece of paper is also a tiring job , i suggest better if he can print it out or copy it and make a .txt file , so that he can save .txt file of his private key on any device as a back up. actually that is what im doing right now.

I think to memorize the private key is not easy it is very difficult and impossible to memorize it for me. I will keep and place a safe so that people do not know it's my private key. one more thing so as not to lose my private key. I will save in some places. if one is missing or delete i still have one more my private key.

Memorizing your private key is not good, why? its because if you forgot one letters of that private key you can lost your whole money and that`s a big mistake, right? maybe its better to put your in some secure hard ware to protect your money, just put it  in flash drive and other type of extension hard drive .

Really? Do you think somebody would bother to memorize their private key? With how it is combined with letters and numbers, its almost impossible for a person to memorize everything, specially when youre a busy kind of person. For me, there is no secure place to store your asset, there is always a corresponding risks anywhere you want to put it.

I never to memorize letters or numbers private key, I think it is not important to do. I just keep the private key in some places, so if it is lost I will find it somewhere else. If you have lost a private key you will never be able to test MyEtherWallet that you have. This should be noted by all users, to keep private key well.

2. if you lose the private key then you have to create a new one

1. Be sure to have more than 1 backup of your private key. Save it in a printed paper and other drive like flash-disk or harrdisk external would be better than just having 1 on your PC.
2. Do you mean creating a new wallet? I believe the question is how if you lost your private key while you have decent funds on the wallet? Creating new wallet means you are forgetting your lost funds, do you mean so?

Yes, that's good, this way is more simple than you memorize all the private key you have. And if you only save in one place still have a big risk, for example save in PC most possibility someday the PC will have a problem so must be repaired.  Maybe email will also help someone to save the private key he has. Keeping private key is the best solution rather than having many private keys because when you follow the bounty campaign the average manager will not be able to change your private key before.

a human brain can not memorize a private key normally unless you are a genius . even if a genius able to memorize it then there is no assurity we will remember it forever . brain generate so many thoughts in a day and we forget most of them after a period . to remember anything forever we have to repeat it daily specially such a key .

If it is lost then all your funds also lost , bcoz there is no benefit if wallet provider give you option to reset key like password bcoz in that case chances of hacking will be high and technically reset is even not possible .

to keep it safe write down it in a paper and save it in your locker or other safe place which no-one use except you .

saving any private key or other confidential data is invitation to loss of your funds . even a Computer is not safe to keep such data .
phone can be hacked easily via any malware or app we install bcoz they have so many permissions of our smartphone , and when we do copy it it is copied in clipboard which is easy target for malware/spyware .
2nd danger is what if you lost your phone and someone get access of it . now as you dont have any backup of that key you can not transfer the fund .

I do not memorize it but I keep it in a memo. because it is too long and complicated if you have to remember. if to lose PRIVATE KEY I do is look for keystore that I have downloaded. so if my KDP is gone, I can still login via keystore.

There is no way to recover your private key if it gets lost except. That is why it is advisable to always write if down in a confidential place or save it on hard drive incase you forget it and I try as much as I can to always remember mine and I also wrote it don in my diary as it is the only key to which I can access my information and funds.

I never memorized my myherherwallet private key because it is so unlikely to be memorized I just keep my private key in some safe place so as not to know my close person for me private key is very important to me. because if we lose that private key we can not restore it again. and all tokens in the wallet will be gone and we can not take them back. so be careful if you keep your private key. and do not forget to save in some places if any one is missing or deleted.

Yes, I took my time to memorize my private key and I even wrote it down in a diary where I can easily access it when I forget the password because without this key I will not be able to access my information and funds in the wallet.

It would take a machine-like memory to store private keys in the brain, except for the brain wallet which is less secure. It would be advisable to store the private keys in a safe place. Lost private keys are almost impossible to retrieve. I don't memorize my keys but I store them safely with more than one locations.

If the mew's private key is lost it is almost impossible to recover. You should use keystore, and the need to add the password you set will be more memorable than the private key remember to store the keystore carefully.

Save your private key that is very important in wallet. If you lost password you can retrieve it using private key.. Private key is a life of wallet.

Seems stupid question mate. If you want to keep your private key safe you can use any hardware of personal computer keep the file wherever you want. Apart from private key you can access your wallet with the .JSON file mate.
If you anyone among this you can keep safer you wallet mate.
Check the security policies you can see when start sign up for the MEW wallet. There is no need additionally to follow to keep it secure.

Losing private key seems to be a big problem if a wallet already contains an asset or the coins on it, as for me there are 2 main risk about wallet security one is prone in hackers steal and other reason is if we lost it. So to minimize the risk then we should have a risk assessment for that 2 main causes.

It is better to write it down in a confidential diary of save it in a hard disc to avoid it being lost because it is the key you need to access your information and once it gets lost, you might not be able to access your data again. Always ensure you keep private keys very secure and avoid disclosing it to a third party.

Have you memorized your Eatherwallet private key?

How many of you have to remember your private key,

If you Lost your private key what will you do and how do you recover?Huh??

Just save yourself the unnecessary stress of craming your private key for Ethereum wallets and find a paper wallet and put it down in 3-4 places , how about if you are having up to  4 Ethereum address. Are you gonna save all the private key offhand??

I don't know whose person would definitely memorize his private keys yet we do all know its alphanumeric compose of 64. Even just memorizing 10 of it would really be hard and tendency even just forgetting 1 letter or number would definitely lose up your wallet together with the balance inside it and how much more if you would need to memorize 64? It would be hard and the risk of losing money or tokens would really be high. Why would hassle yourself to memorize if you can simply write on a paper and keep it nor copy-paste into a notepad and keep it on a harddrive or any other means.

Do not every try memorize your MEW Wallet as that is a very risky thing to do.
Indeed you cannot recover your private key once it got lost, but there are many ways to prevent it by back up of private key, you can write it in paper and secure it, put it in your smartphone, in excel file and others.

If you loss you private key, I don not think there is a way to get it back except you have saved it in an hard drive or flash drive or you wrote it somewhere but if you did none of this, you cannot be able to access your funds in that wallet again because the private key is the only key to access the funds.

I have printed my private keys several times and stored them in different places plus offline storage via usb stick. That's how I feel for save. Of course you can also use a hardware wallet or other ways to store your keys, but for me it's enough.   Smiley

all are correct it's very difficult to memorize private keys so it's important to keep privatekey backups in a safe place, but a wrong opinion if they say you can't recover if you lose private key, you can still get your private key if you still have you json file and passwords.
Quote

you just need to go to "wallet info" on the myetherwallet site, then import json.file and enter your password then you can see your private key and copy it in a safe place.

look in this thread for more details

I do not think it is possible to recover your private key when it is lost no matter how much you try, that it is why it is good to always save your private key on good storage, write it down in a diary and try to memorize it as it is you only key to access your data.

hi bro seems your answer already exists and exactly as the answer above, do you just try copying / pasting it

Yeah . private key is compose of long text , so memorizing it is nearly impossible .  the best thing to do is just copy and paste it on to some different devices and gadgets so that you can have a back up in case one of your device had broken or stolen . infact , that is also im doing right now .

I do not save it on my computer because it can be hacked at any time.

Saving private keys in a computer is fine , as long as you have an antivirus and you dont oftenly download unknown files from unknown sources because that is the number one cause of catching a malware . i do store my private keys on a laptop for almost a year and so far i dont experience any problems regarding on my account

You mean to memorize the private key by your brain and dont use any of tools? This should be impossible, unless it is possible for those with extraordinary memory to remember such a set of numbers. Im usually writing down private key on a few sheets of paper and then randomly placed them in several different places at home.

I don't memorize my private key even with myetherwallet.

And don't be wrong with its spelling because it can lead people to have wrong assumption that this is the correct website. Intruders, hackers or phishers can use and take this is as an opportunity to fool others that aren't aware about real spelling of MYETHERWALLET (MEW).

That's why there are many existing phishing links that are copying MEW because some are informed of what's the correct spelling.

I think its more secure when you write down your private key on the paper , too low potential your wallet to be hacked .

I dont know if theres someone do able to memorize their privatekeys(literally) but i dont really see this thing would be commonly being done since most of us will definitely store it up because memorizing do really have higher risk on losing your money rather than storing it on a file or piece of paper.

Imagine how many characters of a single key not only on bitcoin but also on other altcoins as well which do have long strings of alphanumeric then tendency on losing 1 digit will really mess you up.

As you already understood that the private private key is the only way to secure your account, but in the event of loss, as I know, it is impossible to restore it, it may later come up with a recovery procedure, but it will be in the future

I know this is an old thread, but I think this thread is very important to explain to beginners who have just jumped into the crypto world. if you ask me about all your questions I will answer.

1. How much do you remember on your private key?
Answer: I don't even remember half of my private key characters. I only keep my private key in a safe place and then I copy and paste when I need it.

2. Can it recover the lost Private Key?
Answer: You can restore it by accessing your wallet with files such as UTC if you user MyEtherWallet. but if you lose files that can access your wallet, there is no other way than to create a new wallet.
