When the Bitcoiner collects the banner could we have a picture of it before you go to the super bowl?

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Hi.

Maybe im completely clueless, but consider me a litmus test for "the general public".

Looking at the banner you posted on Page 1 of this thread leaves me scratching my head.

How does this promote Bitcoin?

If I was my 52 year old Aunt, I would see that banner and it would make absolutely no sense to me.  At least as far as the "B" in the middle.

The QR code is blocked by a helmet so its not usable to send money to right?

The text above and below it ... shutting down peyton manning - makes no sense to me either.

Seems like a fail on numerous levels as far as doing *anything* to promote Bitcoin.

Could have done something way more creative / interesting / fun with a Bitcoin banner at the superbowl.

Something that people with zero Bitcoin awareness would react to.

For example:  The college kid saying "Hey Mom send money" <--- brilliant.

This banner?   Makes no sense to me.

Scan it and find out. I've seen other QR codes with things in the middle that worked.

Why does it say "putting peyton manning out of business?

Thanks, I figured it was a local thing.

So instead of making a banner that 100 million viewers will get, and promote bitcoin en masse, you made a banner that only a portion of seattle seahawks fans will get. The super bowl is the biggest publicized event of the year.  Sorry to sound like a dick, but with something this huge, the Bitcoin community could've come up with something more viral-worthy.

You're trying to question the logic of Phinnaeus Gage? I'm surprised there wasn't a goat incorporated into it  Grin.

But I think a donation address to a charity or a link to a video on Bitcoin or something would've been better.

Yeah.

Someone needs to make a banner that is awesome and will get people's attention, even in Russia, who are watching in a local pub.

Something creative, interesting, and shocking in a good way.

Thats how post-superbowl news frenzy / article writing for an entire week after the event, happens.

Nobody is going to mention or write a word about this in any article.

Oh well.

Maybe next year.

For example:  The college kid saying "Hey Mom send money" <--- brilliant.

This banner?   Makes no sense to me.

I guess having five threads dedicated to garnering design elements for this epic banner wasn't enough.

For those wondering WFT this banner represents besides just filling a quest to get anything Bitcoin related broadcast during the Super Bowl for the first time without having to pay millions of dollars for advertising, I present the following:

Where the QR-Code and Google tiny URL link to: http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=seattle+seahawks&SearchType=Header

This is why: http://www.coindesk.com/overstock-ceo-holds-millions-bitcoin/

Why did I select Richard Sherman?: https://www.facebook.com/RichardShermanFanPage/posts/1444165912468032?stream_ref=10

Quote
For all you techies out there, I'm now accepting Bitcoins at my online store http://store.richardsherman25.com/. I hear it's the currency of the future.

Why was the top line used?: http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/story/0ap2000000317035/article/richard-sherman-perfect-as-the-face-of-super-bowl-xlviii

Why was "Shut Down" incorporated (one example of many): http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_25008892/richard-sherman-and-great-trash-talk-debate

Quote
“I am not saying I am going to 'shut him up,' but I am going to go out and try to make some plays so I don't have anybody coming up to me saying I got shut down by Sherman,” said Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

And why this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/richard-sherman-beats-tom-brady-taunts-pats-u-104646336--nfl.html

Quote
Richard Sherman beats Tom Brady; taunts the Pats with ‘U MAD BRO?’ after the game

On to the other symbolisms/elements incorporated, mainly gleaned from http://store.richardsherman25.com/

Richard Sherman's iconic phrase.

Inspiring the overall color scheme. Note the bleeding aspect, of which was cleverly incorporated into the banner design.

Associated mainly with Richard Sherman.

Look familiar?

I even incorporated RS' logo: http://www.amazon.com/Richard-Sherman-Seattle-Seahawks-Hoodie/dp/B00HES1G0Y

Ergo, a lot of thought went into the final design, and hope the above illustrates that thought process.

Finally, Google search images with [richard sherman xlviii banner] (no brackets) and see what's number one.

I PM'ed CC first, telling him that people where asking about pics, then came here requesting from bitcoiners to ask such hoping he doesn't connect the timestamps of the PM and posts on this thread. Chalk it up to weird humor, bud.

Phinnaeus, we really needs to make sure this get's on twitter if we have a picture of it from far away in the crowd (or better: a video!). Tag @Overstock and hope for a retweet. That would be immense.

But even if that wouldn't happen I can imagine that some reporter picks it up and it get's added in some reports, as a side comment on how the Bitcoin community supports each other or when they talk about how Overstock recently adopted Bitcoin, and how they gained lots of new customers/supporters by doing so: This is a prime example!

500$, everyone. This is how much this man spend on this. We should all support this. (Better late, then never, eh? (Re: 5 threads dedicated to come up with the idea))

Hope that the banner is out of fabric, so the banner-guy can stuff it under his clothes. Otherwise security might take it away. Which would suck hard.

Actually, that's Part B of the plan, predicated on what images can be gleaned from the live broadcast.

Tweets with @Overstock and/or #Overstock would only be a part of the follow-up campaign I have instored for this particular endeavor. If all goes according to plan, that'll be that much more oomph I'll have in my court for the Great Flag Race to atop Mount Everest this summer--with or without Dogecoin.

I'm sure our friends over at Let's Talk Bitcoin or Bitcoin Magazine (online version, at least), among others, will pick it up first by Monday morning, whereupon those mainstream entities having RSS feeds from them will use it as fodder for their growing Bitcoin audience.

Hopefully, I won't have to hunt something formal to wear if I'm invited on Good Morning America to sit next to Richard Sherman.

Now, who's in charge of embedding a kickoff countdown clock in some subsequent post on this thread?

Mongo want clock, or he become  Cry.

I only read less than six posts my him and was convinced, not wasting my time to Google-fu.

Due to time, the banner had to made using vinyl. I'm sure two layers, grommeted together, measuring 3' X 4' each, can easily be folded and hidden under several layers of clothing donned by one of our guy's confederates. If not, anybody here have a backup plan?  Undecided
